You see materia system only existed in FF7 not in 1-6 Square like to change the magic system they have been doing it since FF1 and will contuine to do so and thats what makes em good I know i wouldnt like to see the same old magic and game system for all the FF's

You are correct in your assumptions I've had the odd go at 1-6 using emulators and so forth, but didn't have the heart to continue any further than an hour's play.

But I disagree with you on your opinion that changing the systems is what makes the FF's good.

There isn't many people out there that didn't like FF7 but liked the rest.

Don't you agree it would be great if Square had kept developing the storyline - a return of Sephiroth, or going down another line, but still connected with the same world, maybe something about the ancients perhaps, Cloud meeting Aeris in another world perhaps

What happened after all, with the future of Cloud and Tifa?
Red XIII appears at the end, I think with his kids, so I guess they all survived, but lets have more of it. More adventures, new materia, Cloud and Co growing old, having kids, ultimate summons, chocobo racing - old skool, and lets not forget - the little *ting* sounds when you gain Bolt 3 or something, as well as materia combo's. So exciting

No need to keep introducing a new story when the old one hasn't even been finished, I mean, there's so many possibilities, its impossible to finish a story these days (e.g. genetics, cloning).

Looking forward to that Advent Children story, not much I know about it, but I looked at the trailer, looks cool.

FF XII looks ok, but the main lead has a really bad hair-do. :afro:

I think Squaresoft went wrong when they didn't bother keeping the tradition going with Materia from FF7. It's always the same when you read reviews - "Squaresoft introduce another brilliant, completely different magic/summon system".
Someone really needs to tell these reviewers that no one wants the stinking new ones, Materia's for keeps.

It's impossible for Materia to exist outside of FF7. How would you explain Materia appearing in Final Fantasy 8 or 9? In FF7, Materia is formed when Mako energy crystalizes. Mako energy is concealed within the Lifestream of the Planet. Lifestream is the "soul" of the Planet, etc. Where would they draw the line?

I do agree though, Materia is definately the best magic system they ever came up with.

FF8 Was kinda cool story, just faded near the end
FF9 was ok, but doesnt really stand out and to get excalibour 2.... lol speaks for itself
FF10- i didnt find it tht gr8. no world maps = sucks

That's my whole point though. Why start a whole new story, new world, and so forth?
You could explain Materia in FF8/FF9 if they used the same world, and not Gaia, or whatever they came up with.

Imagine:

Cloud and Co live on.
People start realising using Mako as a power source is bad and stop using it.
The world are split between those who use Mako, and those fighting to save it.
Materia would still exist, as it's usually created as a rareity, a concentration of Mako built up.

Some evil dude appears, bent on destroying world.
The people call for Avalanche.

Cloud reluctantly taking up his sword, makes a decree, whereby if he stops the evil dude, everyone has to stop using Mako - the people agree, and once again makes his journey with his friends across the world fighting bosses.

New towns now exist, one even bigger than Midgar.

Essentially, the game could be huge.

I mean, thats just a vague example I've just made up, (just to make it clear I havn't been plotting a storyline for 7 years - although its probably clear from the quality of my plot that it was just made up.)

I dream for the day Squaresoft bring back FF7 characters, carrying on from the aftermath of Sephiroth.

FF7 is unmatched for gameplay and Materia is obviously the best/easiest system for Magic. However I reckon FF8 had the best characters...

FF7 Cloud and Sephiroth are cool so is RedXIII I guess, but FF8 Squall, Seifer, Rinoa, Laguna, his two buddies (can't remember names -_+) all kicked ass. FF8 was poobag though, in my opinion...

My next best was FF9, sort of like FF7 more concentrating on gameplay then graphics, Flaming Amarant and Chocobo System were cool :P characters a bit weird in this though, Vivi was a goon end of :P

FF10/10-2 were poo i thought, although Auron is a badass mother f*cker.

Best FF so far, and quite possiby ever will be. The characters.. storyline, music, gameplay, even the graphics were gd!!! Everythin was gr8 about this game, And the materia was a gr8 system, always used to be happy while playign and ud see the words "Youve masterd Bolt2" or summit like dat!! So much fun this game! There was stuff to do all the time!! never had a dull moment.

One of mah Fave Ff's aswell. Graphics are amaing and voices were very gd i think, it was a big gamble puttin dem in but i think it payed off ^.^ Gr8 characters and although the leveling up and magic/abilities were different from materia and stuff.. it was still a fun and gd way to learn new things. Storyline was very gd and characters were all ace with their own attitudes ^.^ Also had alot of sidequests to do.

FF8
Another gr8 game :O! Gd realistic graphics used and a slight improvment since they didnt have block arms like FF7. Characters were very gd again, and storyline had alot of twists and turns. Very emotional game aswell with alot to do and plenty of sidequests to keep you busy. GFs were a new thing here and worked quite well i think ^.^

FF9
Good graphics... characters were gd and very different compared to others.. quite a mixed bunch lol. To me was a quite oldern times look to it and had alot of mobility on the world map like chocographs and stuff. Gd sotryline again and gd graphics, nice lil game ^.^

FF10-2
I kno this FF came under alot of bad reputation but i dont think its THAT bad of a game. Althought only problem with this 1 is that most of this game was based on sidequests, and not concentrated on the main game/storyline. Its a gd sequal with a gd link to FF10. Graphics are superb, but the game is kinda short. Tryin to get 100% for final ending tho. only 3 characters which is a let down, and no Limits/Overdrives either. But overall it aint the worst game, i enjoy playin it.

FF Tactics
A nice little game for ya Gameboy Advance like the title says, tactics, so a brainy sorta game lol. I enjoyed it alot actually, gets abit repetative and i completed it on holiday so it was quite fun ^.^ I liked it and storyline was pretty gd actually and alot of weapons and skills to learn.

FF Crystal Chronicals
Alot different to other Ff's i must say lol. The ability to free movement and free movement and attacking in battles was alright, but could get difficult with the camera angles. Wasnt a bad game but gets repetative and not much of a storyline to it. Just get enough stuff to keep ure town going.. then revisiting towns to do it again.

I agree. That was always a cool moment, which could only be surpassed with "You've gained Meteorain" or "You've gained Finishing touch".

It went something like that anyhows. Think I'll need to re-order a copy from Amazon, I gave my copy to my younger cousin a while back, passing on from generation to generation. God damn, it was an original copy as well.

FF 7 pwns tbh, they storyline was just great and it has to be one of the greatest games made todate.

Tho I have to say that the best char from any of them has to be Vivi he is just to damn cute! 9 was a fun game nice to see that they took it back to the "cartoon" style storyline not to great pretty basic but hey what the hell it had Vivi

8 ok so they took it from cartoony style to a kind of real life look, which in my veiw was a huge mistake the card game was fun sure but the story line just pissed me off no end.

10 was ok but to easy I think.

1-6 I've not really played them much only about 10mins on each of them, they seem fun, not don't really want to go back to the start, because if I do I'll have to finish all of them again.

10-2 CC and tactics are crap end of.
