Raz, take what warlock says and trust in it - what he says is correct. Run something like Hardware Monitor - it will tell you what your clock speeds are. most modern processors tune down the processor to save power when the speed isnt needed. I know mine that runs normally at 4.5 - when playing mir runs at 1800Mhz.

Same for GPU core.

So that is the 2 biggest contenders people point to ruled out for the most part (there are some nuances here, the way it handles threading and old applications like Mir).

When people try to help - try being a bit more polite to them in the future - and warlock of the same note - try not to fan fires :)

I know that my machine can run everything flawlessly, but yet I am one of the slowest ingame in Mir - go figure :)

Im not sure if you have tried any of what I am about to list but I will do so anyway, all these methods helped me significantly. I Went from 30fps to 60-64 with no drop in any areas and I seemed significantly faster in game.

Please bare in mind some of these methods may not apply to everyone.

1. I bought a new Graphics card, Gtx 660 OC to be exact. Helped a ton. So saying that the GPU can be ruled out isnt entirely true if people are running on an old card.. or no card? Obviously not everyone will be able to do this so.. moving on.

2. MsConfig.... So many people that I have spoken to about this have not been aware of how much crap they have running on startup and in the background... anything that uses your internet connection that you aint using at the same time as mir...DISABLE IT.

*PLEASE NOTE, DO NOT DISABLE ANY OF YOUR WINDOWS APPLICATIONS BY MISTAKE THIS COULD DRASTICALLY MESS YOUR COMPUTER UP*

3. Unpark your CPU cores.. you may find that if you have a 4 core processor, 3 out of 4 will be parked, meaning you are not receiving the full potential of your processor. Doing this helped me out loads when it came to FPS and not just in mir (also play battlefield 4)

4. Keep your drivers up to date. I use a program called SlimDrivers thats helps me check for new updates if I need them.

I would love to go into more detail but I am currently at work. But later around 4pm I will be home and willing to help anyone who needs it for an hour or so.

Message me with your skype name or Teamspeak address and ill happily talk any of you who arent sure through it.

see its very possible to not be a tosser thanks joking.

I have tried all of those things and althought i did see a speed increase when i did them its still far from the speed of some.

I'm running

Power Supply : Aerocool VP Pro 850 Watt Branded PSU
Motherboard : Gigabyte H81M-H
CPU : Intel I7 4790 4th Gen Quad Core 3.6Ghz (turbo 4.0Ghz) CPU
Hard Drive : 1tb Sata Hard Drive
Memory : 16gb DDR3 1600mhz Corsair Vengeance Memory
Graphics Card : Nvidia GTX 660 2gb
Software : Windows 7 Home 64 bit

I did have a 10ft ethernet cable but have swapped to wall sockets in an attempt to reduce (line loss)?
Sockets seem slower but more stable if that makes sense, My ping was 16-31 on the ethernet now its a steady 31 on the wall sockets.

I have been through my nvida graphics control to tick and untick everything that another user suggested.

I have one more test to make regarding setting affinity - ive been getting "access denied" when trying but i have googled a possible solution so will try that.

I don't know how to get the 4.0gzh turbo part of my CPU i'm guessing that's what overclocking is.

I have tested different display cables (HDMi, DVi and VGA) hdmi>hdmi is the best for me. i have one more to test dvi - hdmi.

I'm going to pick up a SSD and a dodgy copy of win7 extreme edition as that has also been suggested.

I have used smartclose and it does not seem to make a difference.

The turbo part is nothing to do with OC. It is just what the cpu will use if it needs it.it was designed for less than 1ghz so it ain't going to push to the turbo.

EDIT - oh yea I forgot I needed to turn it on lol. Neverake a difference though.

When you did the msconfig thing Did you hide all windows processes and then disable everything? That's the easiest way to do it.

If he hadnt hidden all windows processed if imaginr he wouldn't have been able to reply. It can do real nasty things if left unticked haha

I think you may be right, that leads to this answer: Anyone playing on a laptop will generally never see past 3ghz so won't be as fast as the fastest.

See that's weird because, i'm a laptop player on a really bad on board graphics i3 ****, but when it's early hours of morning, only a few players online and getting that speed cap and a nice ping, nobody look's fast on my screen, even depress just look's like any normal player and throughout the day he looks pretty nippy going to lie, WithinTheRuins also been playing with him since start and i cant even land a hit on him in the day, then again at night with good lighting i can go hit to hit with him.

It's always been the same in Mir, some computers/parts support Mir very well and some player just a slight bit faster than anybody.

what i am getting at is maybe he didnt "disable all" maybe he just disabled the ones he knows of. if you hide the windows ones you can disable all and it doesnt affect anything serious (well not for me anyway).

so just tick the "hide windows services" and then press disable all. if you havent already.

Why dont you take the one bit of advice i gave you... windows 8.1

Also SSD might help in some way as it will read the files a lot quicker.. doubt it would give a speed increase tho.

And finally why build on such a cheap shitty motherboard.. its pretty much the heart of your computer and can make a lot of difference in some situations

It's likely his motherboard is bottlenecking all that spec, so he's not getting anywhere near the spec he should be.

A good motherboard costs from £120-£200.. based on that build and your lack of components i wouldnt really suggest doing it yourself as you will have to completely strip the computer down and transfer everything over to the new board.

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/giga...(x16)-2-way-sli-3-way-crossfirex-vga-dvi-hdmi

Not a bad place to start.. i wouldn't hold out all hope it will change your life but i would never suggest to anyone to cheap out on a motherboard.

Thanks.
I will look into a SSD and install win 8.1 on it first then win 7 ultimate to see whats best, if i'm still sluggish ill look at grabbing one of these motherboards.
i'm fine with moving hardware around, kill the static and play jigsaw puzzles=)

Windows7 ultimate runs chronicles the best.

As I said to you before kyler, SSD made no difference to my speed ingame, though was already at cap, perhaps might help if you were struggling before?

SSD made no difference to me at all. It helps with loading times - but that's it. Ingame, there is no difference at all. I could go into why, but I wont.
