This has been a hot topic since the server began.

I think the general conceunsus is that there is no exact science with computer configuration to get the max FPS.

Having played around abit and reading a few threads on the matter... I think we can all come to a conclusion that lighing has a big say in it.

I'm suggesting we turn on the lights in every cave and province. I can't see any arguments against this idea so why not just try it?

I think alot of people will benefit and there can't be anyone losing out?

Really? I can think of 2, atmosphere and boss finding.

So the improvement of FPS and gaming experience to ALOT of players does't interest you?

It could be worth trying for 2-3 days at least.

I think improvements to the performance of the lighting system will be a lot more likely than scrapping it all together. Caves do in fact look terrible in full light.

Those who are actually effected by fps drops seem to be a minority and it is down to a number of contributing factors:
- Lighting system.
- 32 bit image support.
- 16 bit map support.
- Map animations.
- Higher resolution.

If we rolled all of these back, we are pretty much reverting all progress that has been made in Mir in the last 4-5 years...

We are trying our best to performance tweak the client, but unfortunately we can only do so much... To make Mir more visually appealing and continue progression with the likes of Shanda/Korean Mir we are going to have to continue to update the graphics engine etc, which will be more resource demanding.

If you are having FPS issues, I would really be interested to know what your system spec is and OS etc...

You've forgot the biggest factor, those people are probably running PC's which have worst specs than a toaster.

Your chasing a pink dragon here, from what i'v read those complaining about fps aren't dropping to the point the game is stuttering or unplayable, the main reason they are complaining is because other players have better fps than them so they feel at a disadvantage... this is the way games are.. they have better hardware so ofc they are going to have better/more stable fps.

Time is better spent elsewhere, PC's spec are constantly upgrading, degrading the game to make it optimum for those unwilling to move with the times is ludicrous.

I'm not having massive issues to be honest. FPS just drops to around 30/40 when dark / lots going on / in new caves.

I updated my drivers last night and logged on quickly while it was day light in MW and i was hitting 60 and stable so I hope that will have solved my issues. One thing i did notice is that when there is a jolt in ping FPS seems to get knocked around.

I fully appreciate the efforts Sam, thanks for the reply also.

Would it not be worth it just to see if it is the biggest factor? Turn it off Friday and put it back on Sunday. Less pain in that than the pain there has been from the changes to fox boss (was apparently to easy from The day the server opened).

EDIT - most people with FPs that fluctuates are not arsed about it so they don't come to forums to complain. It doesn't mean they don't suffer the problem.

i don't think being able to see the boss 2-3 spaces earlier would make that much of a difference.
