Hey Guys,

So we are going to concentrate on a release of the AM2 Server files so the focus is going to be taken away from the actual server, as and when we do updates to the files we plan to release on this server before hand for the purpose of testing as well as first come to players of AM2.

Now, as most of you know the team have mostly disbanded leaving myself doing the work for the last couple of months and Milo paying the full whack of the server (I have rent + bills and couldn't commit to the contribution from the start). Milo is moving into his own place at the end of the month and cannot afford to pay the full whack for the server hosting as well as rent + bills.

Milo has made the last payment he is going to for the dedi which gives us up to the 19th October, at which point if there isn't enough money in the pot the server will close pending until we find some free hosting.

If you wish to keep the server alive, then please donate via paypal to [email protected].

I don't mind putting a gameshop in for rewards, but the rewards would be completely cosmetic (sex changes, hair changes etc etc).

Thoughts are always welcomed.

Price for dedi is $130, £82.

Sam

Well,

I never played this server, but I wish all the best for the project.

Could I ask, what were the reason for the team disbanding?

It might help other/future projects from disbanding.

Sad news, how much is needed to keep the server up?

Edit-

I also think it would be a silly idea to release the files,i know a couple people who think it but haven't said, i will though XD.

One thought is that the files need to be out there as they are the best files around, on the other hand, when the files get released there will be 15 different servers, spitting the user-count so much there'd be no point playing anyway.

Clash of interests, response from community. There were a number of things tbh, each had their reason.

the internet is/was not free from the attitude of "the customer is always right". mir is full of cocks all you have to do is play the game and read forums once a week to find out, that i guarantee is the majority of the reason most stopped working on the server files.

+1 your not helping the community by releasing the files , your giving people the files to make a 3 hour server and expect donations.

Hello Samuel,

I think this is great new's for the Mir community and also a shame.

Sam. You should consider selling a working set of the files... instead of releasing them for free. (But not stupid prices like China)

Maybe also charging for non critical updates. Just a thought fella you mise well make some cash off these files while you can.

Also charging for the files will stop these shitty non thought out servers...

yeh but that would also mean alot of ppl that buy the files would make donation based servers to not only cover ''dedi costs'' but to then cover '' file cost'' lol

True, but isn't that what these server's already do? from the sounds of it. The team are struggling to keep the server online and people who play are making huge amount of IRL money...

Why shouldn't the AceM2 Team make money?

Please can you determine the total monthly cost of continuing current hosting?

Also, could you consider a "VIP donation" system, in exchange for a one-off payment, 30 days of in-game bonus you can determine. Example, £4 for 30 days "VIP Status" which includes something non-ridiculous but sufficiently attractive for people to use that wouldn't massively unbalance the game.

Maybe even just something like a colored name or floating gfx about their character names to indicate a donator. Could you carry out a poll of how many people would support this, would you even be interested in the work to continue this? Are you sufficiently interested/motivated to continue the server or was it always a short term plan?

very sorry to read this news..

as asked before a lot of times, what is the server costs?

what are the server specs aswell?

just asking since i have an empty vps server running all day in germany i wouldn't mind offering it since it is there for nothing but i am afraid it is not powerfull enough.

on the other hand i am sure there are lot's of people willing to give 5€ month to help out and keep server alive

Nothing at all wrong with a gameshop. Especially one with non combat purchases.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with potions or time based buffs either. They can be sold to players via ingame gold if they want, it worked fine on usa and they didn't even have a system to control scamming.

I agree with DG, the server files shouldn't be released for everyone to use. These files are unique and should stay that way, you guys have put a lot of effort into them so releasing them to people who only want to make a quick buck would be a bad thing to do.
Five minute servers just split the Mir population up and that's the last thing we need seeing as it's already a small community.

In my opinion you should create a few polls on gameshop ideas, donation rewards, server ideas, etc. You could also have a go at recruiting a few more dedicated team members, not people who just wana run about as a GM and stuff lol.

Releasing the files isn't a bad idea but I would keep the source as a "premium membership" which you need to pay for and sign a legal contract barring any distribution to the public. I believe these files have a lot of potential to expand if put in the hands of the right people and could open up some jobs for the core programmers in our community so they can make some extra money customizing servers.

If I am reading Sam's post correctly he just means he will be maintaining and improving Ace M2 and the server will stay up with the future improvements pending hosting. So if money is donated or free hosting is found (combie possibly?) then the server will continue as it has been.

Also for gameshop you could sell things like passes to different caves (ie. premium dungeon in usamir, however the premium part was debated just a different cave to hunt in with a bit better than average exp and the odd gem drop, exceeding rare mount drop etc).

Could also be a buff like drop chance or exp but at the same time it increases monster strength by 5x the value of the buff.

Mount skins sold or a buff that allows you to find them. Say it allows the mount itself to drop from any mob (scaling drop chance with mob level so you couldnt just kill omas) or the buff allows for a chance for a chest and the chest contains consumables like potions, drugs, benes, gems and a rare chance at a mount.

No resurrection scrolls or regular pots as these ruin hunting and pvp.

Edit: Probably the most important thing is for the gameshop items to be accessible to all via ingame gold either directly, or indirectly by enabling anyone with "gamecash" to sell the items to others.

Lastly, I'm happy to donate to a gameshop for cosmetic w/e. I use the server and enjoy the time and effort put into it. I may not agree with every decision but I do believe this has been an honest and fair server, and basically flawless uptime!!
