HDD sizes, and prices?

Whats the biggest HD i cld get for around £100? wld like it to be prity fast, so probably a SATA, SCSI drives dont seem to be big enough for £100.

atm iv got a 120gb internal, and 120gb external, and both are getting prity full.

Usually after 320GB, excluding good deals, the GB's per dollar goes down, not up.

Under 100 I'd get probably get this, for the cache and all.

I payed 20 quid for a 40 gig hdd on ebay. If you look about you can get some bargins.

Around the 300 mark is the best £/gig atm.
The 320GB seagates are jawsome.. perpendicular storage, sata2, NCQ...
~£70.

Not a bargain imo =/. Not sure on what the prices on ebay are, but on Estonian auction sites similar to ebay, a 40gb HDD sells for around £10, 80gb for about £15

well i just got a samsung 250gb ata 133, costed 80 Euros.... works good, better with a 2-fan cooler

I have around 1.5TB in RAID5 on my server.
I download LOTS of american TV shows and archive them so I can watch them over and over again

yeah ive just got 2 many downloaded games and films. download a film everyday at 700mb a piece, so it soon mounts up.

i dont know the quality of hitachi hdd's, i just know that their hi-fi's are cheap crap, so i dont really trust them.

if i were to pay say 20 pound extra (120 pound), wld i be able to improve my hdd much, or is it not worth it? i dont want to pay anything more than 120 excluding delivery.

as an extra note, what wld other ppl pay for a gd hdd? am i coming off cheap by only spending 100 pound? because if ppl think that the hdd's ive listed are prity crappy compared to their own ill wait another week and get a better one.

splash out another 40 quid or so and get a nice maxtor diamondmax 11 500gb, that's what i'd reccomend, currently i've got one of them and one maxline iii 300gb harddrive, but i want more damnit

Is there only a single parity block per stripe on your RAID5 setup? Doesn't that mean you have a liklihood of losing all data if one disk crashes? I can't remember much about raid, refresh my memory mother****er

Seagate have always been good to me, i've got a 80gb and a 100gb seagate in my other PC, they've lasted me a good few years, and I believe seagate now own maxtor too

edit: total of this pc = 800gb, so if you do aget a 750gb, then i will still be > you
