yeah you dont really wanna be fiddling in msconfig if you dont know what your doing, most of the apps in their need to be ran on startup.

if its popsup/spyware you mean, just get a virus checked. and most unwanted things will go in the startup folder in programs.

You can clear everything out of your startup and the machine will still run.

The only things you should really leave in mscofig are all the ones that have the root to services.

or you could just click diagnosis startup?

what he means is most the services in there are there for a reason (anti virus, firewalls etc.) but lets not start a thread 2 pages long where you go on yo embarrass yourself again.

Services are services and startup is startup

Virus protection is not a service and would be in the startup.

Everything that is in stratup can be removed and wouldn't cause any problems.

He means, if he took everything out of the start up, then that would include stopping his anti virus software too. Which he doesn't want to do.

With hardly any common sence, its easy to turn important things off.

-Yes your computer will still run, but it might be unsafe to run because of the lack of running software that keeps your computer clean from viruses etc.

Stop being a jack ass.

if you turn off all start up options and you arnt behind an external firewall or have windows defender / windows firewall on your computer would be infested in under 30 seconds of internet browsing.
