Reading some of the posts regarding wizzies and their pet hates about pet taming time, leveling time and so on.
I know other servers have offered the "buy your pets" NPC and although it has merit, it comes with no grind or sense of achievment.
How about a Mob Master profession system, where you are tasked with capturing mobs and handing them in for experience, say 1-10 exp depending on mob.
Level 0 - 1 = 500 exp (can hand in any mobs) - Reward - Mobs are instant healed to full health when tamed.
Level 1 - 2 = 500 exp (can only hand in level 1+ mobs) - Reward - Mobs jump to level 1 and full health when tamed.
Level 2 - 3 = 500 exp (can only hand in level 2+ mobs) - Reward - Mobs jump to level 2 and full health when tamed.
Level 3 - 4 = 500 exp (can only hand in level 3+ mobs) - Reward - Mobs jump to level 3 and full health when tamed.
Level 4 - 5 = 500 exp (can only hand in level 4+ mobs) - Reward - Mobs jump to level 4 and full health when tamed.
Level 5 - 6 = 500 exp (can only hand in level 5+ mobs) - Reward - Mobs jump to level 5 and full health when tamed.
Level 6 - 7 = 500 exp (can only hand in level 6+ mobs) - Reward - Mobs jump to level 6 and full health when tamed.
This way it will offer wizards something new to do, whilst allowing them to get more powerful pets with a grind.
The exp required per level would be the same because the required hand in pets would be higher / more time consuming to get.
The main reward for doing this would be later ingame a more tamables are introduced and instantly gathering them at level 6 would be fantastic.
solving 2 of the main issues wizards have with regards to pets.
1) it takes too long to level
2) they untame too quickly
by collecting them at level 6 you would get a solid 1.5hours out of them withut worrying about leveling or untaming as soon as they are leveled.
I dont *think* this would be OP. Calculations on exp required and hand in exp would need to be done of course but overall i think its a decent idea to expand on the whole mir experience.
