IE & rar files

It seems that a change by Microsoft means that some/all Internet Explorer versions won't "see" a rar file. The extension might be being ignored.
I'm currently using the latest IE10 and it can't see the files. A friend uses IE8 on an older pc and it can't either.
Only recently I was having no problems with IE and rar.
It's possible that the host site and access might have a baring on the issue.

Not sure if this is of interest to anyone of if its in the right section but, you never know, someone might use the info.

My IE10 sees yours correctly too.
So it could well be my site and not the browser.

There does seem to be an issue with IE and it's default handling of some file types.
MIME handling and sniffing of possible threatening file extensions etc.
I'm just confused as to why it's suddenly started.
