What have you based them on? Your opinion? Pretty much the same thing i've based mine on. What i know, and that is that there are alot of Welsh people that dont like English, not i cba to reply any more because its a pointless argument.

Im basing it on the fact that i dont know any welsh people that dislike the english and seeing as i lived there for 18 years im damn sure i know more welsh people than you.

No you dont know that a lot of welsh people dont like enlgish, you think that because your either stupid or thats the way you have been raised. Prejudice.

The only reason you are saying you arent going to reply is because you know your wrong.

When the hell did i say all english people were ignorant?

Are you saying im not ignorant? I assure you im ignorant as ****.

In all seriousness though I dont understand why these people have to say these things. The simple fact is Britain itself was one hell of an Empire and basically had control of most of the world at one point. Britain today is hige economy, espeicially when you factor in the fact where an island, and are smaller than many nations you would expect to be stronger than us. Why wouldn't people want to be part of that.

Also, Scotland/Wales wouldn't generate anything near the same Economy if they operated as entirely seperate entities. Im not saying they suck etc, but the size and geography of the countries wouldn't help at all, given that Scotland has the same population as london.

Having to pip in with "But im not Brittish Im Scottish" is just another way of self segregating yourself from a larger community. There's nothing wrong with saying "Im Scottish/Welsh/N.Irish" its the "But im not British" part.

If you want to "not be British", then that makes your passport/driving liscence/right to live in the UK and many other things invalid.

maybe english people shouldnt use Pound STERLING! then.

or guns
or telephones
or TV's
or lightbulbs

stfu honestly.

Your point (if there actually is a point in there) makes no sense. Lightbulbs/TV's/etc have absolutely nothing to do with nationality and Identity. When was the last time someone walked up to you and said "Im scottish, look, you cn tell by this lightbulb im holding"

In short, I don't like you because of your whinging and crying to get people disqualified on that "last post" thread. Ive never seen someone cry so hard over something so pathetic.

and by the way, practically everything worth while to come out of britain was invented by a scottish person and the majority of it from a small town called helensborough (where i am from) so im proud to say im scottish and british.

and by the way, that post wasnt me crying it was me bored thinking of what i can post and wasnt meant to be taken seriously, lighten up and stop being an ass just because the admins are your friends.

The admins aren't my friends lol, im the sworn enemy of the admins. They won't ban me though because there would be a revolt by a load of people of they did, and its happened in the past.

The reason people like me is because im not some fake loser, Im a ******* and I openly admit it, infact, the sole reason i started this thread was to provoke an arguement.

Yeah there were some decent scottish inventors, although you picked some bad examples, like the Lightbulb invented by the American Thomas Eddison. Telephone/TV good examples, but you forgot the most important one of all: Sir Alexander Fleming who discovered penicillin.

For all Atom says, he has a point. Surveys have shown (not that I can find them) - that patriosm is a much more prevelant factor in our constituent nations than in England itself.

A young person in England when asked, is more likely to say they are from the UK or Britain. Whereas over 2/3 of Welsh and 1/4 Scottish young would give their actual nation. In reality, they are British and theres no two ways about it unless they secede from the Union (as apparently, 50% of Scottish wish to do). Unfortunately much of the people that form this opinion (SNP, and Plaid Cymru voters) are shamefully uninfromed about their position. Being part of things like the UN, G8 and E3 matter a lot within the world. Seceding from the UK disallows them that (Scotland wouldn't have a security council seat - nevermind a glorified province like Wales). We're stronger working together.

It is perhaps worth noting that a lot of the opinions formed are from national sports teams, which frankly is quite pathetic. If your going to have a dissenting opinion, at least pick it from a range of political or occupational factors. Not intentional and manufactured competition.

My personal view is that I'm European first, British second and English third.

You should listen to me. I have 298/300 on my AS Government and Politics exams :P

The UK is one of the only places that takes such a retarded stance on this matter. Now I can see the point when its Scotland vs England, people obviously support their nation and want the other to lose. But for some unknown reason most the the UK countries want the other UK countries to lose as well.

Head of to the balkans and you find that the second one of that group of countries is knocked out of competition (and gets over it) they support their neighbours countries instead. Aside from when England are playing one of our nations, I always want the other three to win.

I'm British Asian, does taht count?

Even Blaminator who's historical roots are in Asia is happy to claim is his part British.

Also, if any of you ever play International MMORPG's (like WoW) and people ask you where your from, I bet a significant portion of peopl will simply say "UK"
