Hi everyone, please don't spam this thread with accusations against other players for "cheats" and other stuff, I'm just looking for some game legal tips.

I have a good internet connection of 30mb down and 8 up and I run mir off an alienware laptop which handles quite a lot of games really well but my in game speed on mir is at best average. Are there official and non cheat type things I can do to improve speed? Someone once mentioned selecting what core the game uses but I'm not very clued up on these matters. A friend told me to mention i use windows 8 but I don't know why lol.

Anyway, any tips, if in fact there are any, most welcome!

ps: Mods please close the thread if it turns into a discussion about cheats etc, I just want PC/Laptop tips to help game performance

I've heard some terrible reports about AlienWare and this game, i'm sure they will fill you in soon on the problems they have had.

My pc is really fast for Mir, but my Alienware mx17 runs it like crap.

I've not had chance to sit down properly and play with it, to try and get it quicker for Mir. But it seems to always run the integrated graphics through the Alienware as it doesn't see Mir as a demanding game for the dedicated graphics card.

Ps you want windows7 for this mir

A guy from Apex once told me to run the application in Realtime and only use cores 3 & 4.

I did not notice any difference but my internet speed is shocking anyway.

I was wondering about this aswell, when im in full screen my /check debug screen shows me 64 fps and that only drops in big fights to around 50 for some reason i can't put my finger on, then when i play in windowed mode i get 60 fps and it doesnt drop in big fights apart from occasionally going to 59, which is a ball ache really coz on a 22 inch hd monitor windowed mode is tiny >.<, i've also tried wtfast and ping zapper to decrease my ping aswell as smart close to close all my unused processes and not really noticed any difference, sometimes i can run rings round people and other times even at the framerate cap i feel sluggish.

I sometimes get a sluggish feel even with 64fps solo person on the screen.

I can be swinging (double slash) and instead of speed 8 it looks and feels like speed 5 as though there is a graphic glitch of some sorts.
I have to relog every time this happens and it jumps back to normal. It would be nice to have a smooth gaming experience and be on par with the faster players.

Blizz sometimes hits me before the animation even starts and other times it hits me as I see the first spec fall from the sky. Frustrating to say the least.

Sounds identical to how it is with me Razarus, my internet is shared so at first i thought it was because my housemates were using the internet at the same time but even when everyone else is out or asleep i still have the same issue, its strange considering i can run ARMA 2, Warframe and Archeage at maxed out settings and never drop below 150 fps in any of them

Yeah i tried similar tests, I run a media server from a slave pc thats streaming to every room in the house when demanded and we also have way too many wifi connectables but Iv'e had "black out" tests where its just me and my trusty machine and no improvement.
I'm with BT i'm not sure on networking and these packets people talk about but perhaps BT likes to stutter occasional and it only effects games that are not optimized as well as they could be.

I guess not =/
My last attempt is going to be a SSD otherwise I'm out of ideas.
Be a little while before I can justify buying one of those with Christmas coming though =/

It's not isp related. It's certainly software/hardware related. Windows 7 Ultimate with Aero seems to make a huge difference. It seems Chronicles doesn't accept any Laptop/notebook graphics card and will refuse to use it.

I tried finding out the exact configuration that makes you the fastest speed but ended up at a dead end. It does seem however once you reach a certain in-game speed you can't go much faster. It won't let you (and if you do manage to beyond the speeds you'll end up banned for obvious reasons)

What puzzles me is why windows aero makes such a huge difference. I made a thread months ago showing a video example of the differences. It's disgusting lol. Without Samuel telling us what he's optimized Chronicles for, we'll never really know whats best without a lot of guessing and fiddling.

I use a pretty basic windows 7 laptop and I play on windowed mode always - that combination works well for me and I was pretty nippy running around. My internet and graphics card are pretty sub standard though, so high action fights and plenty of lionroared mobs would halve my fps.

Anyone know how you go about finding what graphics card mir is using? I know I have it set to use my nvidia but I do have the integrated on my lappy aswell.

I just put in a SSD so we will see if that makes any difference at all.

Using W7 with aero.

On newer files i cant say much for what would make you fast.. in my time on mir ive went through many different setups and ive gotta say the fastest i think ive ever been is on an AMD setup, for some reason Intel just doesn't seem to have that extra little bit. I havent really played much on chron but i did log on and my pc in my sig doesnt run it the best.. pretty average speed so the only thing i can really put it down to is either 8.1 doesnt like it(ive not tried 7), an AMD setup might still be the better hardware for mir or lastly ISP.. im on shitty SKY and when you consider people can be pinging below 15 and i would be getting around say 35.. that can make that little bit of difference to get those hits in and away before the other person.

Just my thoughts on it.

I dont know if this is going to apply to all or if it will make a difference at all, but over the past week i have been trying some different tweeks of my card etc and cables (just as an in case) and it would seem that using a HDMI to connect my PC to my TV's (i tried 2) i get a drop in FPS over using a VGA or a DVI-I to HDMI cable.

I found that using a straight forward HDMI male to HDMI male my FPS were sat at 55, and dropped to 50 whilst there was alot on screen, when using a VGA cable i sit at 61 FPS and drop to 59 when theres a lot on screen, but using my DVI-I to HDMI i sit at 60 FPS and drop to 59 whilst there is a lot going on on the screen.

I have tried tweeking this to forcfully allow more MHZ to the TV's i tried but both outcomes the same. My main TV (50" Samsung 600mhz refresh) will allow the full 60FPS when i forced the card to allow more than the 60mhz it was set to as default, when i applied this i got to 65 FPS and sat there, on my PC tv i forced it to allow 75MHZ and that allowed me to also sit at 60 FPS but dropped whilst hutning or having a few people on my screen whilst using HDMI- but using a VGA or DVI-I cable i didnt get drops.

It would appear as if the HDMI function on laptops (on board cards to screens) will be a drop in FPS, but i dont have a laptop to test this theory out on atm or even try find a way around it. Maybe try getting the screen to allow more than the standard 60mhz (i also think most laptops only allow 50mhz as standard to there screens)

If your using a desktop and you have a free dvi slot on your graphics card id reccomend grabbing yourself a DVI-I to HDMI off ebay, mine cost me £1 an i got it the next day. Well worth the money. When i can get my brothers laptop for a few hours ill try see if this works or if there is anything that can be done to help improve speed a bit for laptop users.
