I like gems and orbs, but only to a certain extent.

Orbs should have been made much more rare from the start, and gems should have their chance of working lowered. It's hard to change this now as it would cause a bit of an upset, people complaining that they find it hard to get +2 stats whilst other have +5/6 stats.

Also, it should have been capped at something like +7 stats max... and that's +7 of any stat.

E.g. +3 dc, +2 ac, +2 amc... No more stats could be added to that item, no matter how many or what orb you use.
But again, it would be hard to do this now as people already have items with more than +7 stats

totaly agree, its not too late yet since theres maybe 2-3 items with over +7 stats, in time they will run out of dura anyway.

Correct +7 was max, to be fair duras are gonna run out in the end, bringing this ingame play now wouldn't really take that much of effect, as new items will be brought into play 45+ etc... Making only +7 should be done, altho the crys will start

Not at all, cap it sooner then later, the duras will die out

Also, gettin +7 would be hard, you may get +2 easy with gems, then maybe 3/4 easy with orbs, but anymore would take a few orbs to get another plus stat.

Capping it may be unfair but I'm sure people would understand. Capping it and taking the items away from the players would also be harsh.

If the server started with no gems or orbs i think it would of been great, i always disliked them, i think they ruin the rare items in the game but what could they possibly do to change it? nothing because a lot of people have upgraded a lot including myself, if they lower the chance of success then people i will moan so there is very little they could do.

I would love to see them removed from game completely and just have refining in but for this to happen you would need to remove every added state item in the game which i doubt they would do lol. But any changes to gems or orbs now will result in more threads like this.

Not a bad thread I started here, got the ball rolling a few good/bad ideas coming up lol.

Anyway back on track, I think the stat cap should be brought it. Let the items that are alrdy floating about die out...

I would say cap and perhaps cap even lower (+3/4)

For those with Items over the cap perhaps offer a gem for each point over the cap on an item (Maybe an NPC to do it for a limited time?)

I agree (and am glad to see that Sam does too) that Gems are just crazy as it is. Capping at +7 (which is still pretty damn high really) should be enforced ASAP, so the only question is what to do with existing items. Letting them "die out" might be one option. Certainly one that would cause fewest complaints.

The other problem is these items won't just fade out.

For warriors perhaps - Taos and Wizards Durability can and will last for as long as they don't get hit.

Which tao/wizz items are +7 or more? i cant think of any off the top of my head, only actual item i can think of is kirks large brace even tho its dura is high it wont last forever, and im sure hes used a hell of alot of orbs on it which have failed so he shud rly get to keep it, as much as i dislike him :).

I haven't read every post in this thread and in no way is this an official statement, it is just my thoughts on the subject.

1: Life span of the server:
Most of the community has played Mir for years now and we have all seen the same old "official content", the idea was the make this content available and achievable, for a couple of reasons 1: for those who have seen it 100 times over and are bored of it, and 2: for those who know of it but have never been arsed because it was to much of a mission.

In terms of leveling, 50 is the new 40 (literally), which means we don't even have an equivalent of an "official" level 40 yet.

Personally I think considering we have content from both Shanda and WeMade we have enough to provide for another 100 level's easy.

I don't get what you are saying in that point 1

my problem with new stuff is always that it is for too high levels, or for pple with uber items. Because I can't put in tons of hours I always only repeat that same old Mir and never get to enjoy anything new, like some new caves. And now with easy items and exp. getting to 40 you ruined even that early part of Mir which I have ever been able to complete before servers closed down. I don't think even with 8x exp I can get to enjoy the new places of which I have always only heard about anyway, they never made any difference to my Mir, the part of it I was ever able to play.

the new content will just provide exploiting grounds for the mir sharks, to pull even more ahead from exploiting them, as usual.

and being power levelled as pple mentioned here I class as exploiting, BTW as I said before, euro didn't allow that! But nothing will be done about it because this is Mir for top exploiters who will be ready to exploit any new areas and profit from early bugs, like it or not, was always like that.
