Several of the quests are like this, consider them "dalies". The noticeboard in Bichon does the same offering two different repeatable quests one in Oma Cave and the other in the Mines IIRC.

I noticed this to. But tbh you need so many boar tooth that I only got round to doing it a few times then it was better exp/time ratio elsewhere. It’s not offering an advantage I wouldn’t worry.

its terrible exp/gold per hour anyway, better off just actually hunting somewhere that drops books (as ST doesn't). It's literally the exact same quest as Chronicles.
