m2server.exe using randomly large ammounts of cpu time

not to sure why but my m2server.2xe randomly uses all the cpu time avaible, it remains constant (between 20-35%) normaly but every 5-15 secs it uses everything. any ideas why?

might be because the m2serv is spawning alot of mobs for those brief 5-15 secs

just checked that posibility and its for sure not. it slows down when it spikes. but for what reason i dont know it only started a few days ago.

even when the servers been up for 8 hours+ it only uses 45% of my cpu

Might be doing database saves? I'm pretty sure it has to regularly save the HeroDB whilst the server's still up, or else if you logged out and back in during which time the server did not go down then you'd be back at the point where you had logged in for the first time... It has to do it regularly as well - says every 15 seconds.

the thing is it never before used up all of a 3ghz xeon to save a small file :|

when i get mad enough with it i will reinstall

It shouldn't really :/ Simple data backup and system reformat is most likely to solve it.

Maybe your HD is fragmented. Try a defragment. Also make sure you have some free space, not like mine (114MB Free :P).

It does, and the popup message "Your HD is running low on space, click here to free up space blah blah", but seems to run fine .

system is fully defraged and has 17gb free on that partition. my computer did most of the hard work for me. it corrupted 2 of my 4 partitions so im gona reinstall now :\
