Honest review? maybe, history is written by the winners and all that.
Started playing the game a week or two in, cant remember. Levelling up you char was reminiscent of Euro mir, each level was a nostalgic grind. Keeping up with other is a ball of nonsense, you'll never have enough money, or at least the will to spend as much as you need to purchase all the buffs and autohunt to be able to keep up. You will be told that you can buy GG scolls for ingame money on the marketplace to be able to buy AH and buffs, but you'd have to play for a week before you have enough for a scoll. To be able to actually keep up with the top 40% of the server, you'd need a minimum of 10 or so characters running autohunt, just to earn the money needed for items that match your main characters level. As the game has progressed, a mechanic added to the game, called 'Collections' has exploded, and the whales who pumped the server with cash bought gems needed to put various items into their collection. Why is that a problem? because collections buff every character you have, meaning that your Taoist can (and some do) have an extra JMace's worth of DC, and a lvl 20 warriors ac/amc for no reason other than you spent real money to buy gems. Not to mention any new character you make will end up being stronger than a lvl 30+.
Also, the guild problem persists in every iteration of private servers, one huge guild of major power houses, and a few scattered guilds that don't get a look in on bosses. Except this time the guild your in can earn perks through gold and experience, which when added to the collection element of the game, makes characters even more powerful.
The morale of the server is high with the top players, why wouldn't it? But many have left due to the gulf between themselves and the top players, realizing that even if they put money and time into the game, they most likely wouldn't get to where they want to be.
If you suggest something, your either crying about something, so no one cares, or your in the right guild and it gets implemented or changed quite sharpish.
Also, if you join the discord to chat, expect vast amounts of sarcasm, people who think they know how the world works, and people who have swallowed a dictionary, that probably type their messages in notepad, so they can spell check it for errors a few times before they post a reply. You know, just to make everyone else feel like they where missing an education.
Having put a fair amount into the game, time wise and money wise. I did enjoy it for a while, but as people leave and having morale crushed by other people in the game, it's not for me.
