Thing is, why would they publicly announce he's dead, only to have bin laden (if he were alive and they were lying) simply release a video saying, "har har, I'm alive, you're all retarded"?

There's no way in hell they'd risk such embarrassment. Which leads me to believe he's dead, however how long he's been dead nobody really knows.

this, what difference does it make if hes dead or if he's being held in a military prison for the rest of his life being tortured every day, none? the objective was to remove him, and either way that has been done.

personally i would of preferred he was kept alive, the whole thing about him resisting arrest without a gun so they shot him twice in the head is questionable though.
