Hey Guys,

As I am sure most of you already know, we have players joining from all parts of the world who's first language is not English; with this in mind we have developed a system to allow translations on some aspects of the client (ie login info, character creation and roll over on gui buttons).

If you speak another language would like to see the client translated into this language then please contact us on here and we will provide you with a language file for you to translate.

Please bare in mind this is only for client side translations and aspects such as npc's (non playing characters) will not be translated.

Even though I respect that a lot of people play across the world, is it really worth putting all your attention into this side project?

I expect the language system has already been done - and now its just a case of dropping language text files in place.

You will be surprised on how most foreign countries players speak/read only 0.1% english(yes,no,one, two, three etc.) and to thank for the Chronicles brought us this awesome server to play, it would be our payback time to help others who willing to play but had hard time to figure out how to allow trade/group in setting menu :)
I support you Sam, this is a good idea.

This.

Its a "side project" that many players will benefit from and increases out player span... If there was a limitation on creating an account and they translated their client side stuff then the china/korean servers would have an english speaking community.

We are trying to increase the reach of the server and there for bring more people to Mir.

Running round Korean mir shows me how hard it can be playing in a foreign language.
It's only knowing the game quite well that gives me a chance to get anywhere.

The mechanics would be quite simple but the work involved, quite a lot.
On signup, an account would need the option for language. Based on that selection, the server would default to a new Market_def and NPC_Def etc. for that language.
This would require an extra set of directories and files for each extra language.
The client could work in a similar way and call a separate prguse type file specific to the language.

Alternatively have alternate versions on the same NPC and selectable by a link on each NPC or client setting.

I don't know what your long term aim is here. Euro languages? Indian contintent? African continent? Far Eastern languages?
To expand the server population you would need at least twice the number of competent staff (and game police and ingame help)
English/American is still the international diplomatic language and the one used as a common language by many other national groups with more than one language on the same contintent. It is also reputedly the easiest to get by in requiring far fewer words than others to be unbderstood.
Then there's the point that the China and Korean servers actively discourage non nationals from playing there by requiring a ID number. So unless they are gonna let us go there ... (would we want to given reputation for corruption cheating and all that)
Then there's the fact that they restrict internet access and attempt to control it. - Those Chinese mainlanders probably shouldn't be playing here. (Poor sods have to use Bing ffs)
Will you also be having you own forum with separate language sections, and be able to recruit mods for each one?
I appreciate a man with vision but theres a lot to chew
