So having played Jamie's Mir2 server earlier this year, and having spoke to him numerous times back then, I was pleasantly surprised to see him launching a Mir3 server.

So I gave it a go and these are my initial thoughts:

This is my personal opinion, but I absolute hate this "version" of Mir3. It's feels very cheap, and cut down. What I mean by that, is that I'm sure a lot of you guy's will remember what Mir3 used to be like. Remember Evil's Illusion and Judgement of Blood? Those version of Mir3 felt alot meatier and more complete. When they brought Mir3 to Europe a number of years ago, it was stripped and raped of alot of its content. Maps were redesigned and made smaller, dungeons all looked the same, monsters no longer made any idle sounds... All these things made Euro Mir3 a big disappointment to me.
Which brings me to Zircon. I was disappointed to see Jamie chose to mimic Euro Mir3 with all these stripped down elements. I couldn't even copy over the missing sounds from the old clients. They didn't work. Very disappointed with that. Anyway, that's my opinion on that.

The AI feels very "beta" Mob's will only attack whoever is closest, and there is no aggro when attacking. So Wizards are free to do whatever they want with no fear of being attacked when they are with a Warrior. This is coming from someone who currently plays a Wizard too. This is bad and I really hope this is a WIP and Jamie intends to improve this.
Wizards (at least at the lowers levels. I am currently lvl 17) feel very weak and under powered. My Warrior buddy is doing average 40-60 damage per hit, and my Thunderbolt does between 8 and 20 damage. Pretty bad. We are both using average vendor gear.

While I am glad to see the Gameshop items are not locked away to only people who donate, I still think there is too much "pay 2 win" emphasis in this server. All the highest levels have like 15+ buffs to literally every stat. While a Gameshop is good to help Jamie fund his time and effort, I think that the items available will be detrimental to the longevity of the server.

That's all I got so far. A lot of the new features are brilliant. The UI is great and the spectator mode is an amazing feature. A lot of people who never see the high end dungeons can now see them.

Changes I would like to see mainly are:
Mob AI similar to Mir2.
Idle sounds for mobs (greatly helps when hunting bosses)
Dungeon's that actually look unique instead of them all looking the same.
Wizards damage increased a little (just for sub lvl 20)

Other than that, I am enjoying the server, even though lvling is very difficult (not a bad thing)

Never played euro, but sounds are as GSP korean official Mir they do not exist.
wizards have it easy can solo any sub they come across in the sub level 20 caves with current damage. Warriors sins don’t get this.
the Ai is intended, once you go to the higher content you will need the warrioirs/sin taking Agro or the wiz would not be able to hunt there, banyo island hymoon were off limits to wizard, they are now able to hunt there. Respawns and people dying will soon get the wiz owned.

the game shop buffs Male a big difference early game, once your 60+ the only thing you will notice is luck. The primary stats are such a small % at the proper levels.

did you play GSP, this is really what the game is based around.

No. I don't really follow Mir religiously these days. I only remember Euro Mir3 being this bad. I am purely comparing this to old school Mir3, and judging by what you described, is alot better than this "GSP"

With Marble? The charms mainly, people could get crazy stats on charms, so the strong got stronger and the weak got weaker.

Mob AI in Mir 2 is rubbish and broken lol, i really like what is jamie trying to achieve with his monsters AI.

tbh i would love to see an actual threat table within monsters

eg. player hits a mob he gets added to a list with a % threat depending on his damage output, monster will just go for the highest threat (Highest damage dealer)

While that sounds like a good idea, and I agree, I would like to see that too, at the moment, there is no evidence of this happening (I have no idea if Jamie has a to do list somewhere...)
Right now, mobs just attack whoever is closer to them, thats it....

This is how jamie intends it to be. its designed around the group play, warriors being up front and tanking the damage. while the glass cannons do there work. Before you could hit the mob at range then find the wiz dead due to a teleport -500 HP.

Again without playing GSP/korean you would not no this.

Lots of things.

People stealing items from guilds and selling for real money. other servers opening. mir community itself. Charms.

I like the change but at the same time I have the same thoughts, unless a room has active respawn or their is an instance where mobs come from every angle controlling agro is easy and squishy dd's are safe.

I'm pretty excited tho how player walls will be eliminated with this change, even the first sub bosses do incredible melee damage there should be no way you can simply stand still so it should make combat a lot more interesting.

Ok, so where is the risk to Wizards if they have no chance of aggroing mobs anymore? You may think this is a bad a comparison, but take world of warcraft for example. Imagine if they took threat tables out of the game so nobody except the tank took damage. It would be boring because there is no risk to anyone. All you do is stand and attack. You could go make a cup of coffee while fighting a boss....

I dunno, I think it's removing an element of skill/awareness from the game. :/

Also, players and mobs don't seem to flinch when attacked anymore. Not sure if this is a bug, or an oversight, but im sure its not intended.

I understand you could afk hitting a boss, but then if that’s how you expect it to work then you are very mistaken, the higher level content is different to what you have seen before from what I understand, the old system makes wizzys taos useless as they take Agro then die. Low level stuff is just training for the real thing. Without it wizzy and taos were just forced into a couple of caves on gsp.

you might have seen jinchon devil on euro? You cannot afk this boss here.

exactly, in mir2 as a wiz i was not allowed to hit most bosses. specially woomatrus, as he will just tp to me or somewhere else the moment i use a single spell. mirking usually had 3 warriors with a para ring and the wizzies clear trash only. thanks to jamie for trying to improve things!

1 Small example of this new aggro mechanic is the butt fking if something goes wrong.

Warr Lures > Warr Get Stuck...and remains stuck.

Team comes to the rescue....gets too close...

Now not only is the Warr STILL stuck, the rest of the team is now under fire from the mobs they have accidentally dragged off.

Just 1 example we had at 1 point :P If you focus purely on the positive and the advantages of the new mechanic after 5 minutes of playing, of course you'll see it was easy for Wizzys lol....it's far from, and we haven't even reached the examples Shane was giving you.

I'm enjoying the server very much, can't please everybody i guess... I enjoy the Aggro change tbh, the mobs maybe see you from a little to far but maybe it's to fit the newer Screen Resolution Options.
