Firstly I would like some feedback of who thinks "Euro Mir" style servers are worth making anymore, I'm pretty sure they are.

I have a "team" of people at the ready wanting to make a 2.3 server, was going to 2.6 but to many bugs and assassin things still not sorted so we'll start off with 2.3.

Can I please have some feed back on if you would play a 2.3 euro style server.

By Euro style I mean the leveling/drops/caves ect will all be similiar or as close to euro as possible.

Thanks

The main reason for wanting to do a low rate because they seem to become more popular over the long run. The way i think is they will last longer and become more popular if theres more of a challenge. All based on personal oppinion tho.

thanks for reply

Yes, there is.

I like low rates more than high rates - but 99% of the time I get bored on low rates alot faster. If it's a challange but fun in its own unique way then deffinatly.

If it's "more or less" another euro copy - give up. If it's been seriously custom made and adapted into something special then go for it, your sure to gain a nice usercount if it keeps peoples interests.

Its not going to be exactly like the way euro ran it obviously, but simliar as to leveling style ect. Alot of work will go into it before Beta is even open.

Well in my opinion make it right with enough good features advertie it enough and it could do good.

BUT don't make the levelling to low.

Wasnt going to make leveling to difficult, it will be easier 'slightly' then Euro Mir, and slight drop increase from bosses and such, but we wont be making it incredibly easy and we will be adding extra maps/caves/npcs and stuff to do quests etc

i would beinterested, exp imo should be X2 - X5 depending on mobs. Also add a few quests for items and exp. Then i think you're on a winner.

I like low rates but there is a few essential things that they undoubtedly NEED to have.

A decent usercount is a hard thing to gain on a low rate server so it is essential you have alot of original content to keep people interested and all this content needs to be well laid out and easy for people to find.

Usercount really needs to be taken into consideration when adding new quests, completing drop files, spawn tables & mob strengths, its a big issue with some low rate servers. Low rate servers tend to have a low usercount until they really get on their feet, and alot of the time caves are added where mobs are quite hard to solo, bosses added that are impossible to kill in a group of 4-5 players, or drop rates set to something suitable for 200 players, and when there is only 20-30 people on the server these things make low rate servers tedious and boring to play.

So really what I'm saying is, make your server how you want it to be, throw it online for beta testing and see what sort of userbase you get. After you know roughly how many people will be playing your server, edit EVERYTHING accordingly. DON'T have drop files set "as close to euro as possible", as that is completely and utterly stupid. Euro has thousands of players, you'll be lucky to get 50, so something that is common on euro would be a major rare on your server.

Anyway I'm sure you get my drift, gl.

TBH, what i think your after is a server around the 8-10X mark of exp, that leveling is a good speed to level with IMO, its not "fast" but not to "slow".

What most of us like (including me) is making items for when you start, ETC make new weapons rings bracers ETC for inbetweens euro ones, even from level7+ as people just go straight in for level 40+ with euro servers.

Quests dont really get people from lower levels, i would say about 25+ for your first quest was a good reasonable level.

Maybe one or 2 more caves for around the 10-20 levels then the same with the 20-30 ETC, think you get the idea slightly.

Boss mobs in caves are always a bonus, along with a sub boss.

Drops is another to get people, now i have found out (or figured out) that with the new 2.3 files, that people dont mind hunting hard for items, its more the "more essential" skills, for this i mean TDB for wars, people dont like the grinding and constant killing for this skill to get it at level 40+. Same for taos, most of the time its for spells like UE or Hallu and even Deva. Same applys to wizzies with things like FlameDisruptor (think yo uget the idea) but people like skills like Rage ProField, Curse, FlameField, Mirroring ETC skills to be rare and dont mind grinding for them skills.

This is what iv came across in my time on p servers, because with High Rate servers, Most of the spells drop really easy, so people have the chance to use them, so with spells like TDB, Deva, FC, gives all chars a chance to hunt with new spells, but at the same time dont over power the server, i dont mean just get boss mobs to drop hem either, i mean normal mobs you kill.

I hope this helps, no idea if people agree with me on this one or have a oppinion or 2 to add to it.

P.S sorry for the essay

Agree with you, take example warriors most useful skill ever - TDB.

To make this skill so rare that only a few people have them and you'll probably not have it till 40+ is what seriously puts people off, same with skill lvling - dont make it tedious, make it resonable.

Custom is the key word, NOBODY likes to see the same old euro stuff. I think 1 or 2 quests that get you used to server caves would be a nice idea.

Overall more effort you put into it the more you get out of it.

Im glad you agree with me, it is just 1 or 2 points that put people off, as with wars without TDB it takes a while for them to Solo kill boss's for this skill, where as a wiz with t bolt can kill most mobs, and taos with just shin, poison, SFB and heal can kill a fair few mobs solo.

its more of look at what your playerswould like more than want, if it was up to most on the forum, then killing your first mob would be enough to kit them upto level 70. i know that sounds OTT but its true.

make it so people can solo hunt and group hunt. thats the thing most people look for, loads of people love to level in a group, but loads liek solo leveling to.
