Been playing server about a week now and loving it, but and it is a big but, the amount of grief players , mob luring boss stealing assholes far out weighs the good ppl ive met. from having hunts ruined repeatedly by manbearpig to bes stolen by jammo(tuing skeles in 1 hit and pink poisoning lasting for 5 mins) or wretchedhag luring a shed load of mobs just to steal a web :P i know some will say its part of the game but why should ruining someone elses time be considered acceptable? only other thing i disliked is the GG stuff , but thats not only on this server have never liked it on any server.

id give server based on this a 7/10 - for me the griefers ruin it.

Couldn't agree with you more but it is a fantastic server, the developers have done an outstanding job re-coding and coding new features, the maps and general modelling is awesome. Best server I've played since euro hands down. Regardless of how buggy euro was it's more of a nostalgia I used to get from playing it, however Mir Chronicles and the development should have been the lead developers for euro back in the day, maybe then they wouldn't of given up and shut it down. :p

so true! more has been done for mir since private servers started than was ever done before, this server has the potential to be great just needs minor tweeks and sort out the griefers . Ive played many servers and so far this could be 1 of my top ten maybe even top 5 servers if the issues mentioned where sorted.

Yes its an aggressive server where PK is encouraged. No one seems to take any notice of these facts:-
USAmir (official) and mir2forever which both discouraged pk, both lasted years not months, both had consistently good user counts of 100+
yet all the other p servers where ppl think fighting is the main reason to play last a few months and user counts peak at 200 and dwindle to a consistent 75 ish eventually falling to 30ish and then closing

Loving the server, 8/10 if you ask me.

Mir is a free for all, the bit you call grief is what makes it what it is.
Good incentive to level and get revenge. Stuff like that gets you emotionally involved. Don't know what lvl you are but when a bit higher that manbearboy isn't too hard to flop, dunno about the others.

Not a fan of GG, but on this server it's not game changing tbh.

Just can't stand the moaning forum monkeys flooding the forum with negativity, eventhoug they only represent a minority.

Its the vocal minority think the game is all about PK pvp.
Curse immunity isnt game changing?
Rest of gg doesnt make much difference except exp pots even 1.2 exp pots make a difference.

I would be open to suggestions on how the part of the community who just want to play the game can avoid the griefers?

Thank you for the positive comments :), It is a welcomed change :P.

Are we playing the same server? haha - the overwhelming majority of people ive spoke to are cool. Couldnt agree more with your comments on the server itself though - it really is quality.

I think that PK is such an important part of this game, maybe its just me though? And ive been on both sides of the blade haha.

Hi Sam
One of the best things about this mir is that you are visible and responsive.
Making pk and pvp less approved might help a bit. The new ideas about gameshop curse immunity about repairing your weap by pk and buying lose the pk points do set the style and feel of the game.
Level capped caves might help but that might make the bot levelling thing.
BG was popular because you could fight without dropping yr kit but was exploited and exploited and exploited on most servers its been in.
Daily levelling events happen on some servers. Much the same as the repeatable quests here but for new players levels.
Level separated event caves/maps.
Most of these suggestions have been on other servers somewhere. Hope someone can come up with something original

There is one way to avoid one form of grief but I don't want to say it publicly as more will do it, I would PM you but I don't know if you read them or not.

Sam

PK/Pvp was although open world was not intended to be a major part of the game like current users want it to be, it was intented to have harsh consequences for those who chose to be a PKer. The Penal Colonly, the loss of body luck, the curses on weapons. Going red, Shops not dealing with you, Archers. All these things were designed to make Pkers lifes hard, now all you hear is "carebare" if servers are not balanced for PvP, well the game was not balanced for PvP to start with it was balanced for PvE, the reason there is a sabuk wall, and Guild wars is because PvP in Mir is not meant to be 1v1 fights in town ect, its meant to be guild/group. thats why theres the ability to war another guild and also the ability to have Freindly and enemy guilds. I remember Euro when HOMAN guild were the pk guild, I remember getting a group together and invading Penal to kill the AFKers. I remember the shouts in Dead Mines of "Pker @ xxx:xxx" and everyone would go kill them as u didnt curse

All threads on balance on this server are about people wanting to pvp 1 on 1 with other classes and win thats not what MIR was about or designed to do.

Flame if u want, just speaking the truth.

Sam you should be balancing for PvE and Group PvE hunting, not so a particular class can win a fight 1v1. That breaks the game for PvE.

Even Modern MMOs can not balance it for both hence usually theres an added stat and gear designed for PvP (group wise usually). Neverwinter has it, WOW (urgh!) has it, EQ EQ2 has it, EQ:next will have it.

For all those who enjoy pvp there are games dedicated to it, and are f2p, for those who like pve there are other games dedicated to that too, Mir has changed into some gingerhaired love child that doesnt know where it belongs at the moment.

You have to take all aspects of MIR whether you love them or hate them, and deal with it.

If you are hunting in caves to level, take RTs with you, if someone starts trying to PK you or luring on you, just RT and carry on your hunt.
If you are boss hunting, do it in small groups / guilds, this way you have much more protection.

The thing that does annoy me, is how 1 person can ruin a guild hunt somewhere (mainly BDD) - but at the end of the day, its what risk you have by hunting there I guess!

Good Server, Good People (majority anyway) and Decent content (can't wait for 2.0) I think people (including myself) just forget that Sam has other things to do as well sometimes!! (and he even needs breaks!?!?!)

Sams input so far has made this game fun,for us mir heads.Ive not played as much for a while been waiting for prices to drop.looking real good now. If you choose pk on mir u got to have more punishments for going red, that will bring out the real pkers prepared to stay red for a longer time.

Without recall sets and archers on too many of the borders, i doubt this will happen

I spent most of the first month red and I can tell you punishment enough being confined to MW, having ZT, BC and SSG to hunt... There are enough punishment for PKers atm, it's fine.
