Is there anyway that a LEDU exe could be password blocked for edit? Basically, it can still be used to play mir, but it can not be opened for edit in programs such as that Ledu IP change program, or a Hex editor etc...

It may sound stupid, but it seems that a couple of server's have been reported to the host's ISP of them. And all a person has to know is the hosts IP for a certain server, and wala, server can be reported to the isp. So i was wondering if a ledu exe could be password blocked for edit so it could not be opened for edit to see the servers ip...

Cheers :P

The only way to do something like that would be to keep a program running in memory which constantly secures the EXE from copying or editing. Nevertheless this is stupidly haphazard and there are so many ways around it it just isn't worth it.

Besides, if someone wanted to merely find the IP of the server they would only need run netstat or similar program to see where the EXE is connecting to.

If you want to mask your servers IP I suggest you find a willing proxy server to run everyones connection through.

The problem is you shouldn't really be worrying what the ISP tells you. Theres very little legal grounds for them to terminate your connection since a 1.9 server is technically at least 'legal'. Unless they're saying you have went over your bandwidth limit, or their ToS specifically mentions certain types of prohibited servers.... ignore them.

well ash here`s what i would do

first off i would install and use http://www.no-ip.com/ (this means your i.p will not be shown just something like this instead (Server.no-ip.info) may have seen this before but hey its the fix.)

also i would close port 3k it will disable peaple from see`ing your server online from leo`d but will prevent peaple from see`ing your ip (as the no-ip.info doesnt show up on leo`s)

Thats personally what i would do.

good luck.

But they can still track your ip. Trust me, i have tryed :P There are websites which allow you to track ips to there isp. And even anyone using no-ip can have there isp tracked through that no-ip :P

And cheers for replies. And i supose you are correct leo, but it was that masscare server which has recently been forced to close on request of the hosts isp (i think).

Thanks again ;)

I'd cast doubt on that Ash. It was probably just someone who merely spoofed an email to them to make it look like it came from their ISP.

That is of course, if the server was actually taken off for that reason and the host wasn't just looking for a crediable excuse to get rid of it. (Its happened before).

@Zildo:
I beg of you, please go and read up what 'DNS' is before you make any more suggestions regarding similar matters.

Yep, no problems.

I am not going to bother about it now i don't think. Leo has explained to me basically that my ISP cannot really do nothing.

Thanks anyway though ;)

No I asked u to read up on DNS because you said a no-ip account (which essentially dynamic dns), hides your IP. When it infact does nothing of the sort. Its like saying a map to the warehouse hides the warehouse.

I find your posts very hard to read, I'd appreciate if you could clarify your points in a more legiable manner.

As for your insinuation that u can 'hack the hell out of every server pc thats on ur user count'. Sorry Zildo but thats the second stupid point you've given in this thread. How exactly does p3k have any correlation to 'hacking' or lack of server security... and if it REALLY did (go on proove it, I DARE you to try!) - why have none of the major servers blocked it for THAT very reason?

In future back up any contentious points, otherwise you just look extreamly foolish.
