Not trusting it unless it's off a team member, a host can't just terminate your server because of attacks though? They should have better security and solve the problem.

It is possible for a server company to take your server offline, without warning if it is impacting on other peoples service.
Mitigating attacks for a host is very time consuming and resource intensive so the easiest option is to take a server offline.
If DDOS protection isn't something they offer then there will be no protection on your servers of that magnitude and thus they're not equipped for this kinda of thing to happen.
That been said, I've seen nothing from any of the server team to say this has happened, generally though a server wouldn't be physically unplugged, specific traffic to specific ports would simply be blackholed which would give the effect of a server been offline.
