do i need to forward ports on an offline server

if so which ports and if not then y on gods name is my server still not working!!! arg lol

ye still getting the 1 same error with DB saying

gate connected
gate disconnected

over and over... all ips r right
only thing i an thing of.. is i have software on my pc called synmantec virus anti-virus

In my experience if the ips are 127.0.0.1 then no anti virus software gets in the way. check that you got the DB username and password set correct

You need to make sure you set the files up correctly it sounds like you either have the password or db set wrong in the inis. Did you fully resotre the db and what version of windows and sql are you useing?

using XP windows
SQL 2000
And i resotred the DB with mirsql2000backup.file
iv deleted everything and now im gunna do it all again and follow the guide again with you tube. even tho im 100% sure of wot to do =/ lol this is the 4th time now lol

i redone the whole thing correctly for the fourth time

still didint work still same error with

GateDisconnected

over and over i an log to char selection but cnt make a char lol

1 week and yes im gunna give up im not addicted to mir and no reason for me to waste my time by sitting by my pc for 10 hours str8 coz i know could do it if i had the time but i dont..

i have that thing that ppl call a job.. leave ur pc seat and find 1... i made this thread for help not the opposite.. didint want critisism

Ive had this error before you have SQL set up wrong need to uninstall sql and reinstall then when you install click next till after the name and company then it will give to option use my current login or use Server use the server NOW if you have a login when you first start windows you must put your user name and password for that in the boxes. If you dont use the local login
then choose mixed for the next screen then that should do it

ye the reason im giving up is coz iv made a few servers
on sql but iv done everything right... i rekon its somink to do with my laptop coz all the files r correct and iv set up DB properly so im guessing its time to give up unless some 1 has the answer! and wants to share

I have a problem i have done all things good...but when i start to run game i get conn close...i have no ideea what it cud be i have modem connection maybe this have something to do with it? i dont know how to allow ports if they not allowed or w/e help plz any 1, thx.

connection close could be wrong ip setup in the server files or if your running behind a router(the only time you foward port) Modem is different
