Quick question - gemming added items

Remind me what the interaction with runes is. Gem it, then rune, not the other way around or it thinks it's already been buffed with 3 items (whether they be runes or gems)?
So you could have a dropped 3-slot +3 sc item which you gem 3 times, rune 3 times and has +9 sc?

I believe a slot counts as an added stat when generating it in the drops, so it could be 3 slot, or 2 slot 1 added, or 1 slot 2 added or just 3.

What d1craig said, I'm pretty sure that if an item drops as sc+3, then it cannot be gemmed anymore. As soon as a stat is +3, then you cannot gem that stat anymore, regardless of how it gained the +3.
