Smoked for about 15 years. Bought some LnB from the shop, said **** this and threw them straight in the bin outside. Bought a bunch of hardboiled sweets and quit cold turkey. It took maybe two weeks for the cravings to go away but even after 15 years smoke is still the best smell ever.

I quit smoking at least 3 times until I done it for good. My advise is you must have a great reason to quit (the more reasons, the better), always remember your reasons and just hold on in the first month to the urge of using any tabaco! If you keep a straw in your mouth or anything similar to your old habits, I'd say would only be harder for you.
In short, have great will and get it done. I quit now since 7 years and still liking the smell of burning cigars, but will never use, ever! :)

This post made me trying to quit smoke.
been reading this since the first post the other day and i'd said to myself a few times "yea i probably should"

I have tried a few times before but i don't even find it to be the cravings but more the routine. Not sure if that makes sense but a good example is smoking after eating.

Habits are harder to kick than change to routine mate. It you can kick the habit, you can change your routine.

I thought yesterday was bad, today I could murder somebody. I've resorted to buying patches because I feel like exploding with nothing at all.

Good luck bud. I haven't tried to stop but I assume you will need to look at your triggers and plan for a substitute in the early stages.
Hard sweets/mints etc
Proper "Trebor" Extra Strong Mints is what got me through quitting smoking. Went through alot of packets to begin with, but slowly decreased how many I was having over a short period of time. Also black coffee if the mints dont work during a craving.

Just my advice on what helped me when I did it. Its all trial and error buddy. What worked for us might not work for you. So just stay strong and try a **** tone of different things. I wish you the very best of luck. Not that you will need it tho, if you are determined enough 😊 💪🏼👍🏻

Patches seem to be working well and my local council offer free support so I'm getting 12 weeks of patches and lozenges for free. Fingers crossed I'll be nicotine free in a few months

There’s a guy I use to work with had a wild idea to quit smoking, he said to chuck your last box in the loo and piss on them, take them back out and try smoking one….the taste and smell should put u off

No idea if he actually did it 👀

I've never smoked but my wife did... when my first daughter was born, she had a heart defect and the doctors pulled us into a room and basically told my wife that her heart wont heal if shes around smoking and that my wife cant hold her for atleast an hour after smoking.

Probably a load of bullshit; but she never smoked again, went full cold turkey. Daughters heart healed fine.

Thoes was the hardest 2 weeks of my life hahaha.

Good luck mate.

If it was me, I would save the money normally spent on sigs in a jar labelled new PC fund :D

Avoid situations or things that you associate with smoking. Take a day at a time. Keep nicotine gums at hand when your willpower is low and your about to crack. Get plenty of sleep, lack of sleep drains willpower and your more privy to give in. Prepare for it to be hard, it will be. If you do smoke one, don't be hard on yourself and use it as a breach to start again, just get back on the horse and continue. You can do anything you set your mind too, but you build resilience in the ACT of stopping not the stopping itself. A day at time.
