I can understand why people are in a way "mad" at others for making a big deal, I mean, would he of done the same for us?

But in respect, all he ever wanted to do was to share his talents with the world.

I quote “And my goal in life is to give to the world what I was lucky to receive: the ecstasy of divine union through my music and my dance.”

He will be missed, for the right reasons.. He will be remembered for his talents. Not for his lifestyle.

I sort of agree with Elo on this and some of the others.

I mean fair play guy made some real good music and was very talented.

But why do we make such a big fuss over any celebrity dieing? Especially when it's probably 99% fact that any celebrity in the world wouldn't care if you died of a heart attack.

@JoeDunn09 100000% agree. People fighting in afghanistan and iraq get very little credit for what they do and when any of them lose their lives, little is said about it.

I think some people are taking this way too far with fuss, I would understand if you knew him personnaly, however I doubt you do.
Like I said, made good music and deserves to be known for that. But all this fuss? definately not.

i agree with joe and everything but this man was in a league of his own, im 16 and i know this there will never be a voice like that man had, yes it's nothing like giving your life but this man broke racial barriers with his music also and brought all sorts of people together.

no point in trying to flame about him he was a legend and yes again people in the armed services should also get credit like this.

i my self want to join the armed services but i know that if i die knowing that i have died for my country i dont care if i got any thing on tabloids :)

sure sure. its always the case, the press can neva let celebrities die normally and leave it at that, they always have to kick up a fuss about something strange happening. dont believe everything u hear.

I still dont see why rip threads are made on a internet forum.

You all say hes a pop legend...so what...he made a lot of records he also made tons of cash from it, he didnt do them records for free, he did it to line his pockets its as simple as that.

He is nothing special in my eyes, hes just the same as any other artist to be honest.

what also makes me laugh is that most of you who are being nice now hes dead would probably be slagging him down if he was alive, its no secret that most people did hate him,and is very sad that you now pretend to like him now hes dead.

@jealy feel free to infract me, I wont be told to pretend to like someone just because they have died, ill say my oponion of something whenever I feel like it.

and for the record....I didnt like him but I didnt want to see him dead either but it has happened and no amount of rip threads will bring him back..so why bother.

Silent, Your a full blown mongo. Fair enough if you dont like him, thats your choice. But dont go round accusing others of not being sincere.

Why do we make R.I.P threads? its respect.. But not only is it respect, its something that will turn into a discussion and thats what keeps people at LOMCN.
Im really pissed off that you say most people would have slagged him off when hes alive. Dont base the rest of the population on a few people you may know.

And name me one person who entertains for free? how stupid to even mention the second line. Jeez people these days..

He did a tour but he wanted it to be special for the fans so he wanted all these things to be in it but they could not afford what he wanted so he paid for it out of his own pocket just to please the fans and have a good show. Now name me another artist which has done that.

.

are you serious,
  • Part of the motown era
  • inspiration for what a good 90% of choreographers (i know i cant spell 4 ****) and dance group routines,
  • the impact on music videos of today which through vids like thriller which sorta tell a story as they go along
  • one of the founders of pop music
  • idol for the majority of new groups from all kinds of music
  • inspired the event Live Aid (please dont tell me thats a waste of time)
  • gave over $200 million charity
  • got and drew the worlds attention welfare for environmental and animal rights,
  • contributions like what sanity has said
  • helped people through bad periods in their life with his music
thers more but i shouldnt need to say it. @ people saying he shouldnt be called a legend, its in the context of a Musical Legend, an icon because his work is legendaryin itself 50+ years from now we will still be listening to micheal jackson. its a legacy which will last a lifetime

the same as any other artist? give me a list of 'other artists' who you can say the same for...
Rediculous

call me names i really couldnt care, the fact is unlike some people on here I say what i think and wont stop just because the likes of you, jealy and anyone else tells me to, its a internet forum so your oponion means nothing to me.

like some dude said on mtv news his music wouldnt most likely be played in like 200 years time could you say that for many other artists ?

people may not have known him personaly but if he helped me through rough parts of my life this man would have been my idol, thankfully i havnt had any parts of my life too bad so im a lucky one but his songs still get through to me, this man is a legend no matter what you say.

thanks you :)

Hah the Silent guy's a joke...

No-one's trying to make you like him, we're not forcing that. But like Prai said (wow, i agree with him..?) i'm not just a fan now he's dead. All through his trials, and the other stupid stuff he actually did do i still remained a fan of his music. You're wrong, most people don't hate him, most people realise appreciate the musical talent and contribution he gave to the industry.

Shh now. Like RedD said, if you dont like the RIP thread, don't post. Bye...
