How would I go about making sure that my email through my domain/hosting is secure? Secure as in secure enough to deal with credit card info with customers.
Depends on the email platform your host is using, on most hosting packages it tends to be a simple mail exchange. If they have the option to upgrade you to Microsoft exchange, then upgrade to it as it's a more secure mail platform. I would also recommend you have a look at this as well http://www.ico.gov.uk/, especially if you are handling customer credit card information. As there are steps and procedures you have to take, to protect that sort of information securely. How would I go about making sure that my email through my domain/hosting is secure? It depends on who your host is and what level access you have, most can be done from your cPanel options for emails. If it's Squirrel Mail, this is a hosted application and would need the host contacting. If it's exchange mail and depending on what level of access you have to it, you can add the contact email into the approved list.
