I have a ticket open with hosting support now to see what happened. Suspect it was a general issue though because the reboot I did from Management GUI didn't kick in either.

So it was a DDOS but not directed at us

Upon investigation, our network engineers found a 7Gbps DDOS going to a server in the same rack you are in. While the attack did not take down the entire network, it did cause packet loss to the servers behind the switch that you are on. We were able to null route the IP and the attack had subsided.
