Give it a try some time. After you hammer the CPU for a duration for arround 24 hours the mob lag will kick in. You should also notice that even with the server stoped, the machine is noticeably slower until it's rebooted.

Depending on the mob count and number of maps, you can get away with a P4 2.0Ghz and 768mb ram running xp or 2000.

I've had servers running on 433Mhz machines with 192MB ram without problems. And I've had servers which run into mob lag despite being relatively well powered.

I suspect the eventual mob lag is systematic of badly configured files, and thus relevant to all processors in a like for like comparison. Unfortunately I cannot test, however nor can I come up with an acceptable hypothetical reason as to why your premise may be true when it is only the processor that is swapped.

Sempron's are useless for server hosting, you will get mob lag and possibly flashing npc's after arround 24 hours. Also, aren't 3000+ sempron's socket 754/939 not A?

Your right iv put a socket A mb needs a 754 but thats only £4 more & with the £25 saven on a g card its under £200 :)
