I have a few questions like..

1) What stat will they run off as in DC?MC?New Stat?... if DC then Dc item prices would be through the roof as 3 classes going for same stat (Wars,Sins and Archers lol) etc

2) What kind of skills do they have? (theres only so many ways you can shoot a arrow )lol

Only asking as i know fk all about archers so maybe someone with some insight can comment.

I was playing china mir few months back but i couldn't figure it out due to their stupid alphabet. Soz dude. I'm gonna guess it's DC and some MC.

Say DC gave it a base damage and then MC gave it a Boost when using skills.

Like for example if you had an exploding shot skill. It would use say 40DC as base so 40 damage and then w/e MC on top to get the max hit.

You can then make items with a mix of DC and MC to fit the class.

Would be impossible for the class to be decent if it had to use 2 stats, as no items have 2 stats being dominant, unless they get lazy and make multi class items which just sucks lol

Forgot to add this clearly won't be up this year. Don't agree with adding Archer from the start, going to take along time to balance. If there being anal about 4 classes, I shudder to think about 5....see you all NEXT Christmas!

Kinda have no choice

1) Archery is a physical attack (The arrow physically hits you)
2) Having 2 "physical" stats DC and whatever the Archer would be (XC?) would just allow Warr and Sin to use them as well
3) If they made the Archer stat something else, what would the defence be? AC? AMC? A 3rd defence stat?

To try and keep prices down, you could make it so Archer class can only wear Archer items. Bit like how the Assassin Weps and Armor work.

Then you just add all new items dedicated to Archer class.

They have a number of varied skills, I won't release to much information on them, but the plan for archer is to be a high damage single hit class.

I take it you're stressing in those last two quotes Sam that you're aim is to open this year, but not until you think it's balanced and ready.

It'll be interesting to see how you deal with a 5th class implementation without direct public testing (especially if people cry about it being either Over/Under powered or buggy). I will be watching this space :)

Of course I am assuming when you release it will be live or will it be testing stage? (then it is a different story)

Yes Sam I saw the post lol. But "aiming for this year" is the same as saying "soon".

With the points that we just gave you, and Richens and Jamie elaborated on, you can't believe to balance this so soon without player intervention. That will lead to huge delays/testing phases and god forbid a wipe when you realise the mistake.

This won't be releasing this year I can promise you that lol, if it does I'd be hesitant to play as a wipe would be on the cards if the imbalance is huge

Remember archers, particularly in the far east, used bows and swords.
It would be unrealistic to make a class restricted to just a bow.
Why not make archery a skill option instead of a class option ?
It could have multiple levels of strength at similar usage levels as armour, ie, 11, 22, 33, 40 etc.
It's unlikely a wiz or tao would use the skill as they have ranged attack anyway so their strength levels could end at lvl 22 while warriors and assassins could both progress further.
Damage would be DC based but not of the char but of the bow and arrows used.
Bows would be available with increasing range and arrows would be available with increasing DC.
Bows could be affected by storm gems and maybe poison gems for poison arrows !

Just a few ideas.

This would get rid of the need for a fifth class.

Am I promoting a completely bug free, 100% balanced server? No (that would be a ridiculous statement), I am promoting a server with 5 classes and the knowledge and commitment of a team to ensure that if/when bugs and balance issues are found, they are fixed as quickly and effectively as possible.

I disagree with this. Reason being this server is already going to be a longterm future server that'll probably last years with the current files they're using, so better to release the classes all as one, so that people can start playing the Archer when everyone else is playing their own respective class.

if it were to be released (ex) 5months down the line, people would need to relvl a character from scratch just to get back up to date to where they previously were, re-doing all the content they'd already done (which is boring and offputting)

I'm looking forward to the Archer class personally. I hope they won't be as big a flop as Assassins were, though. Warriors pretty much completely outscale assassins, and I feel that everyone has created assassins in too strange/boring a way thus nobody plays them. If they were more about invisibility, stealth, emphasis on attacking from behind with massive DPS but in a standard 1v1 straight up fight they do poorly, then I can see more people playing them. To counteract this you'd give Tao's an "oracle" spell that reveals any invisible units in an AoE around them that last a few seconds. (Yet again making the Tao more about utility, and again making people want them on groups)

Not sure if people are just uncreative or don't have the time to create these things. Sam's server so far is the only one with potential to add these types of things. If the Archer is to be released, please for the love of god don't let them flop as badly as assassins have.

I'm sure there will be some screenshots/videos of the archer when advertisement goes up for live :) can't wait to see what there like, only trouble is, is that there's 5 classes to choose from and choosing the right one is going to be hard :p iv never played assassin (that wasn't buggy) or archer.

yer i think its best to put em in at start so theres no catch up needed. i doubt 6 months down the line, take up would be what it would of from day 1.
Plus another new toon into the mix, changes the dynamics of the game totally. Will add to the sense of a new improved revolutionised mir!.
