So you're anti fun then. As I said earlier, skills are integral to having fun, being high level and not having the skills is absurd. For me this decision will dictate whether I continue playing the server or not as I don't have the time to camp bosses 24/7 in the tiny hope of ever getting a book for my class drop, then winning the roll against everyone else who still needs it because the drop rates are so ****.
Its not about being anti fun, while you mind getting everything on a plate and consider it fun, others don't and that is where the difference in opinion lies. Rather than getting them handed out to you being added to the drops properly is the way only forward and only way to not piss off a lot of people.

Silly idea. Dont give gold farmers more gold, Adjust essential items and book drops so we can sell to shops.

A substantially higher percentage than what there is at the moment... With the current split decision, the decision to keep the same would win.

Sam

I don't think it's quite as black and white as "All books in shop" or "Keep it as it is". Up to lvl40 then i'd vote yes. They shouldn't be as rare as they currently are anyway. ALL books? Definitely not.

"Each class would have access to his or her tools to be able to pvp/hunt at full potential."

I'm level 30 at the moment, HeavenArmour is a "tool" I can use to achieve my "full potential". So are the Mir Items. Why not stick DSS's in shop for a couple hundred mill for the lvl40's? Why not make everything a shop item? It just seems daft to me and takes all the fun and excitement out, especially when you get the inevitable: "Wow, OK dropped FF! Let's go and sell it to the shop!" :P

In the long run I guess it doesn't really make any difference to me; I doubt I'll even get to the required level, let alone be able to afford the high level skills, but it just doesn't seem like a good idea.

Also, as Raider suggested: Just increase the drop rates a bit (to a bit higher than Euro to account for experience increase). That would keep everyone happy.

Skills should drop from trash mobs, as well as Bosses.

Was always nice to get something like Mirroring from a GiantWorm in BC.

I voted no but I am not 100% against the idea if it was done correctly, however I doubt that it could be implemented in such a way. The main reasons I voted no are the following,

- People have already spent MANY hours hunting rare skills for it only to be taken away from them within the blink of an eye, I don't have FF or Mirroring yet but there are people in game who do and should be rightly annoyed at such a change.

- The idea promotes laziness, people not wanting to put the work into their character, hiding behind the ruse of ''I don't have the time to play''. And for those that legitimately don't have the time are never going to reach the levels to make the skills worthwhile anyway.

- Just one less reason to hunt, skills as you pointed out are a traditionally dropped from mobs as it has always been a part of Mir. A very fun part I might add, I get more joy out of finding a rare skill rather than a rare item of equal tier, for example I would rather find FF over a Dragon Staff.

- PvP balance would be an absolute nightmare as already pointed out.

Those are my main reasons that came to mind on the spot. I don't see why you can't just add the skills into normal mob drops from ZT/ PB/ Foxes/ LostShip/ Frozen/ Jinchon/ Orcs/ Vipers at a rare rate but spread them out so they don't all drop in the same area. Eventually people will start getting books and over time the prices drop and filter into shop books, just like a lot of the skills already have.

Stop trying to move the goal posts.
If your gonna do anything just make the goal abit bigger so people have a better chance to score.....

Just increase the drop rate of skills(a tiny bit) and add them to a larger spread of monsters and even extremely rare drops by normal mobs!
Give sub boss's a purpose to be hunted back
Hell you need to rework all the drop files anyway??

I dont fully understand your thought train sam, you want a long term server but are thinking of adding short term options???:S

It's not about having it handed out on a plate, for a lot of people skills = fun, spending hours and hours and hours trying to find something as integral as a skill is silly, I'd rather be able to spend hours and hours actually using the appropriate skills for my level.

I believe Flame Field from Flaming Woomas was another one. I could be wrong :P

I have an idea,
Do not sell the book in the shop, but you can bind the book to every character. He can get the book for free only when he reaches the skills’ level.

Pros
-Encourage players to levelling.
-Do not cause the bots issue about the gold.

Cons
-potentially introduce some balance issues (which you want to look into).

Can you reply to me on why you couldn't just implement them into the normal mob drops at a rare rate?
People would be completely satisfied with this.

/Xele

this exactly. While personally I think its not a bad idea id say no due to the fact I think ppl wud leave coz they don't like change. Rare weps and armours shud be boss drops only and all skills should drop from bosses AND mobs even if its rarely. Personally for me if 1in 20 wiz had ff thats about the right rate of rarity. When gamepot usa introducedthe ancient ruins patch all the new high spells, magicbooster etc and rings dropped from mobs aswell as the boss.

Voted NO
Could i u imagine EVERY tao running around with curse and PC? or every wiz with clone ff and bliz etc? if this was put in id reroll without second thought tbh horrible idea.
Would much rather you raise the rates abit or have them drop from random normal mobs like on euro than have them in shops.
Its just gonna be a case of who can farm the hardest on chestnuts etc rather than who can actually kill enough mobs or bosses...

I voted yes - if the cost was high enough the grind factor would still exist.

Why can't you offer best of both worlds?

Put the spells in shop and give them a reasonable and economical price (maybe you could alter the price listings based on the total amount of the gold in the economy).

When it comes to grinding and hunting for the spells, maybe you could offer an unlock feature for "rarer" spells. Like FlameField for example, a lot of players would spend tons of money and time just trying to get this spell, if it was in shop then there would be no hardship in getting the spell with no sense of achievement.

To justify the spells being in shop you could lock rarer spells at level 2, then offer the chance for people to hunt and grind places that drop an item that when double clicked would unlock the ability to level the spell further on!

This would ensure that everyone has the chance to get that spell but also has the chance to better the spell on the fact that getting passed level 2 is rarer and an achievement itself

Thats my opinion

Voted yes by mistake didn't read post my bad, change my vote to no if possible please. Id be happy to see skills up to mirroring/ deva / lion roar in shops. Top spells like ff and curse should always be earned but change the drop files so people actually have a chance at getting them from normal mobs as well.

I vote for No,
If you are selling the books, you will destroy the service. Gold is not the number one rule in the game and never should be.
I have been playing dozens of services. When they sell the book, they can sell everything. I am not saying you will do this. However, as an old player for Mir2 (more than 10 years), I am against such kind of strategy which could lead to this consequence, even it is less possible.
Do not let me down, Sam. I just pay for 20000 GAMEGOLD and the sub (which is still not on my account).
I will be angry if you want to sell the book just for your own interest.
I think my idea about binding the skill book would be a fairly good strategy to satisfy both players and your interest.

All spells yes, I already made a post about this near the start if the server.

Sorry but Mir is such an unbalanced game when some books are rarely dropped, the ones with the spells have a huge advantage. Us casual players who don't have the time to dedicate to the game always end up so far behind that it puts us off playing.

Would be nice to see the "good" known players being on the same ground as everyone else, will definately make PvP a lot more interesting.

no, just no.

so all of us who put the effort in to find where spells would drop and go hunt them have wasted there time? those of us who spent high amounts of gold on spells we couldnt find have wasted there gold? because ppl just wanna farm exp all day and not vary there gameplay and put ion a little effort?

spells hard to get my arse, in space of 5 days we had 2x FS, shinsu, holy devas and more. go hunt books if u want them.

is anyone taking into consideration the effect this is gonna have on the economy?

Skills are what.... 15-20% of dropfiles and market? and a lucky drop can change your entire game and make you feel like a king!

I for one would not be a happy chappy with upto 20% of my gold being take out of my pocket due to people being able to buy skills from a shop rather then sourcing them from players.....
i depend on this money to buy my next lot of potions to go leveling........

Even the lower level skills sell for 20-50k in TM that all adds up to gold in your pockets.... if this vote pass's thats gold out of your pockets...
AND MINE!!!

PS, if the skills do become avaliable in shop, myself and all other players want gold refund on what ever skills we have alrdy brought, at the prices we paid for them.......(if more expensive then shop price)
