Wonder if this will be the most polarising poll for Chronicles ever. You don't normally see something practically 50/50 split on opinion.

As Sam has made it clear that the "Yes" option would require significantly more support than this, perhaps we should instead discuss compromise? Seems to me that a lot of people voting on both sides of the issue would still agree that a better option would be making books more obtainable by normal means (killing mobs and bosses).

Perhaps we don't want every skill in the shop, but do we think that the only way people deserve to be able to play their class to the full is to hunt 5,000 ZTs? I don't want to hark on back to the days of Euro but I agree with some people in this thread; If you had a chance, even a very small chance, of a decent book from normal mobs, then that could be enough. I think one thing that puts a lot of people off the drops on this server is that there are some things you will never get from normal mobs, rather than just being extremely unlikely to.

No
because not only does it encourage bots to farm gold for yourself
it encourages buying gold with irl cash
and encourages irl cash deals for the books which drop = pay to win
If players cant handle a bit of a wait for something the answer is to leave for a couple of months and come back when the server has been going a bit longer and what is now rare has become more generally available.

Trade merchant does this automatically , d rings were 1 mill , now 400-500k for dura 5... however a dynamic npc would force items into cheap low prices if the drops were increased a bit more, the need for items become outdone when better stuff appears, and everyone above the level of the skill has it, then they start to become less rare.

Am I right in thinking people actually enjoy leveling without anything to level for? I've noticed most people hit 44 and then slack(apart from the odd few), and the reason being is there isn't anything worth leveling for once you hit 44, until you find items beyond that level, but even then I wouldn't level for 1 item with a 3+ stat increase.

Wow... wasnt this a low rate? How easy can the things become in one single patch?

Voting no.

I agree with adding skills up to lvl38/40 into shops, and maybe making some 40+ skills available via a long questchain, but i think most lvl40+ skills should be gained from drops (both from bosses/subs and from normal mobs (at a lower droprate)).

I also agree that items sold to shops should be available for other players to buy untill the item is either sold out or the server is rebooted.

Or maybe it has something to do with the 160million exp you need for 45 lol

I think you all have the total wrong idea you think because skills will be in shop that everyone will be running around with Curse and FlameField? i think your wrong their not going to be cheap i expect he think of putting them in for 20mills+???? not everyone has that much gold it gives people incentive to grind find small rares make cash and work towards goal of getting that elusive skill, which otherwise with these rates you could be hunting boss mobs for 6 months before getting something like FF when your lvl 45 already seems a bit over the top for me this is a private server it aint gunna last more than a couple of years tbh.... and hardly anyone is going to actually get to use skills for their class LOL!!

Firstly if there will be pvp and game breaking things included in giving everyone all the skills then you have a serious problem if that's the case...
secondly i want all skills in game because you still have to actually get the that level believe it or not...
the whole game and whether you have fun or not completely based on luck at the moment and for a lot of people getting skills is a stressful thing not an enjoyable one due to the fact some classes actually need certain spells to become "fun".

I think its better for books to be drops, however the current rates and availability off bosses is too poor. If there is not going to be a change in drops (specific book is a 1/5000 chance off of only 3 bosses in game would lead to a basically non existent spell) then I would opt for them to be shops so at the very least the skills are in game and people are playing using them, it adds another reason to level and more dynamics to pvp and pve which overall makes the game more exciting. My overall preference would be for them to be drops, still rare but reasonable, and off of more bosses, not just 3 but off many sources obviously at varying rates.

The overall outlook of this thread looks to be that there needs to be a change in the availability of books, the question is whether this is the best vehicle for doing so.

i do like the idea of skills in the shop. it means everyone who can "work at levelling" (while avoiding the silver plate) can then get skills.

although it is a very drastic change to game. you do have to find the skills either by buying them or by hunting them. it wont make the game worse for me. and i dont see why people think it will make the game awful. you will still have the option of hunting for the skill. so just dont use the silver plate...

batters should not come into it. we have had many discussion about botters, something to stop them botting would be good not "nah we cant do that cos botters will bot more".

i have not read the whole thread but i bet somewhere in this thread smaviddavid has said something about kingroom teleports. thats all he ever spouts out.

EDIT - it would make the game a hell of alot more enjoyable for me.

hmm.

Nah.

Becomes a balance nightmare.

What sort of balancing is that?

How on earth can you balance one class to another by the rarity of their skills? for example after 1 year when everyone has all the skills are you going to then change them?

Just make the rarity on par with the amount of work it takes to get whatever the required "gold" that you would charge for the skill and it should work out to be the same, but more exciting.

Yes, put them in shops.

You cannot have balance until all skills are available.

Keep items rare as there must be something worth grinding bosses for.

The biggest gripe about Mir I and many many others have is that skills are so rare that it potentially changes the class when one is learned and as such you cannot have balance without significantly nerfing these skills.

You should decrease the population of players who say No because Mir is full of amateur gamers that are afraid of change.

EVERYONE is MEANT to have curse/flamefield, their skills and as such are part of the core make up of a class. It's a bit retarded to say Only 10% of the wizards on the server should have flamefield. FF/Curse are spells which turn a wizard/tao from a piece of crap, into a class worth playing.
