That test will just reconfirm that something is hogging his bandwidth lmao.

Hun, you need to get some sort of tool like netstat but with information on what processes are using how much download capacity.

Urbanfox might be able to suggest something, I couldn't find anything.

Hmmm....

well testing ur speed at dslreports wont be bad, so do that anyway just in case. Like leo said netstat would show the connections but i cant think of anything at the top of my head to utilize that and bandwith meter per connection. my brother used a program to monitor full bandwith usage on the network, so ill aks him about that and u could see if something is really using all ur bandwidth or if u have some connection problems or tcp issues. it would be all manual but try downloading zonealarm and set it to ask u about all connections being transmitted in and out. that way u can see if anything uses ur internet connection.

and btw, hi leo long time no see :)

OK for Non-Uk peoeple - this is what we have a choice of in the UK:

NTL
600/128
1024/256

NTl are upping the prices on 1mbit and increasing the speeds 'late summer' to 750/128 - same price
1.5mbit/256 - 37.99 GBP

Telewest
Already have this magic Speed Increase:

so they offer:

256/128
750/128
1.5mbit/256
3mbit/256

ADSL

512/256
1024/256
2048/256

If you happen to live in London you can get bandwidth which is low during the day but after 6pm you can get upto 8mbit/400 for a real cheap price

There is a few restirctions on these that i know of:

NTL - they have a 1 gig day Cap - but all they do is monitor you over 3 days and if you go over it too many times then they send you a letter.
They are blocking certain ports such as:
Now it is blocking (inbound only): 137 (UDP), 138 (UDP), 139 (TCP), 445 (UDP & TCP), 593 (TCP), 1433 (TCP), 1434 (UDP) and 27374 (TCP).

ADSL - if you buy the cheaper pakacges they have a CAP imposed.

Now USA - correct me if im wrong - you might have faster speeds but dont you have a Cap on there as well so for exmaple you cannot leave your connection d/l or u/l 24/7?

Well, i think the best companys out there right now are comcast (cable modem) and speakeasy (dsl). now comcast is cheap and they dont care really.

i pay $52 and i get 4000/384 starting next week compared to $44 @ 3000/256

now, speak easy, they have the best service period.

for $100 us dollars u get 6000/768! and u know what? they dont give a sht abnout anything. infact, they give free bandwidth to people who host major game servers like for DoD etc! with them they could care less about port restrictions etc.

thats why i want speakeays, but thats anbother $50 a month :/ but seriously, with them they are like, heres ur connection do whatever the hell u want with it

EDIT so basically we have no cap

btw spyware can also take up bandwidth.or am i talking ****e??

anyway to get rid of spyware i use ad-ware(suprnova.org)

also look at the objects and delete the ones which you don't think you're familiar with (using internet settings)

hope i'm right in what i'm saying lol but the companys take up part of your bandwidth to moniter your activity on the internet for their own market research..
