Strange lag...

I've been getting strange lag for about 5 minutes at a time maybe once per day. When it happens my character freezes completely mid movement, I can't pot, teleport or cast any spells but all monsters and players continue to move around me in real time. Has caused me to die twice in situations that are just absurd!

does anyone else ever experience this?

I experienced this before but that was when i had a problem with my old harddrive before i upgraded to ssd drive, since then no problems.

its youre pc my work pc does the exact same thing its a bag of crap,my home pc nothing.

I've had this a few times lately, sometimes dcing, cost me a rms and a few stones >< lol

I have also had this very infrequently as of late.

Its a similar lag yo what we had before when the server team updated certain files live, im not for a second suggesting that is whats happening but giving an example of the type of interference we are getting as it may help narrow down the cause.

I would suggest its the server files, cant remember name of it, basically its a file that collects all info and writes it, if the file starts to get full it cant write it quick enough so causing lag.
In simple terms it needs clearing this can be done live, which again causes lag or by reboot.

This it happen at a set time?
It could be some auto process on your systems that is set to run.
My virus scan is set to do a full scan of my system at 3am each morning and when it starts it lags my system for a few seconds.

And no nothing has been loaded live

If it was the server files everyone would get it at the same time and this is not the case

Okay I just assumed it was server side as my actual connection to the game is unaffected, everything continues in realtime there are no frame issues, it is simply I have no input to my character. First time I died I lost my holyDCstone second time I dropped my luck 7 fates so it scares the hell out of me haha.

Does it happen at a set time?, it would help narrow it down. The server does run backups of the files (it has to)
I would like to find out what the cause is, be it player side or server side.

Normally if it is server related (not connection) then everything on the server will lag including the monsters

I've had it before where i've lagged out from Yims KR, and when i've logged back in, i've been frozen to the spot, not able to talk, move, or pot. Only to see 2 mobs coming towards me in slow motion, to take out my holy DC haha.

Not had it since though, this was a few months back

It was exactly this but without the prior logging out/in. Both times I just had to watch mobs come towards me and kill me, both times in vipers.

Completely stops me moving, drinking pots, teleporting. I could type but when I pressed enter it didn't send until I had died.

Just happened again >.< and died again. I have my autopot set at around 150HP less than my max, but whenever this happens my autopot just doesn't kick in.

Very strange, there is nothing set to run on the server at that time and all reports are clear and all files are reporting no errors
If everything else on the server and your screen is running fine then it may well be something your end but we will keep looking into it from the servers side

Can you go the the logger folder in the client and see if there is anything reported in the log file around the time you lagged

They are not bushed off :P Virgin is known to have problems.

Any info on this lag, when it happens, is it everyone, what your doing when it happens, is it in the evenings or in the morning.
Just saying I got lag is no help to anyone
