Iirc its just the differences in gearboxes, but yeah all the gearboxes are interchangeable too. I'd steer away from both types of cars anyway.

I spent a fortune on my VTR and it was always dying but I was lucky enough to get a decent price back when I sold it.

probly only good thing about them, they keep their price.

my mum had a vtr too had nowt but problems, especially with the electrics, but i have heard the vts is a totally different car even in terms of reliability

Move to france, my insurance was 900 quid p/a.

France it is 290 EUROS a year, and any1 who has held a license for over 3 years can drive it, as you insure the car not the driver.

Buy a VW Golf 3 or 4 is cheap and very good german car.

I have Golf 3 1.8 full electric (windows + mirrors) + air condition

Here in romania is very cheap to mantain a car like this, i mean i pay assurance around 120 euros / year

One's Peugeout, the other's Citroen.. Big Diff lol
Don't make me laff, they are the same car. Same company produce them, same engine type/size/make. The only difference between the two is the body and nothing else.

He's just trying to disagree with me like always. Good thing he got showed up this time LOLZ
No actually I think he is showing you up, the 1.6 16v GTi engine is the exact same engine as the 1.6 16v VTS engine and it's the same right through both makes of car and seeing as it's the same company who produce the car, then why not.

And no don't bother coming back at me and try and prove me wrong, as I've been modding both models now for the last 5 years and have many a time used parts from either on either to boost performance over each engine.

maybe u can then lol but still not same cars
Yes they are, as I said the only difference between the two is the body work. The frame is the same, the engine components are the same. FFS even the power ratio on them are identical.

On topic:

I drive a 1.7 DCi Astra Club

That's the difference between the UK and the rest of the world though...here we just drain as much money out of people as possible.

Can't be arsed to read through it all.

Stay away from Saxo's, and Citroen.

Corsa's are steady little cars, cheap to run, not bad to repair and don't have that meny problems... driven correctly of course.

Clio's are also decent 1st cars. But can sometimes be prone to having problems, and costly to repair.

Fiesta's are cheap all round.

Astra? Bit bigger than the cars mentioned above, and may be more on insurance, but cheap decent cars.

VW's are solid cars, but you pay for this luxury, therefore you are going to pay a hefty bit more than mentioned above. They are also a lot more expensive to repair than the cars mentioned above.
