considering the responce from the community that this server has recieved, if the server cant handle what the gms must have understood to be a large player base id be very surprised

We are taking precautions for a larger than expected launch.

Guess you can limit the maxium player to a certain number but this will have a knock off effect! A lot of pissed of folk lol...

You've marketed this almost right, where you've not rushed the server out, not gave out too much information and used facebook as a way to attract more people... Surely you knew you were going to get some attention :) Christ! People that have no played Mir for 10+ years are coming out the wood works lol -

Guess it'll be interesting to see how your going to tackle this :)

It will lag and crash no dowt about it.

with the people behind the server i would say its not gonna happen. i have seen wow p servers with 500+ online and not 1 bit of lag. and looking in to it the specs of a dedi that good its not as expensive as some people would think.

@d1craig

there is a big difference from millions to a few hundred

lol. i love this comparison. Mir has ALMOST the same player base as SWTOR.
Was nothing to do with who is playing... If paid professionals can't do it why should we expect unpaid not professionals to be able to do it?

And Mir plays nothing like wow so the fact that this server has better specs than a wow servers doesn't mean much. acem2 works my pc more than wow ever did.

I'm sure there will be little to no technical issues due to server load. Few thousand connections isn't a lot and the server is rented from professional service providers I believe.

There would only be a crash or lag if the server application cannot handle the requests and execute them fast enough. I'm pretty sure the system the server is on will be powerful enough and if a dedi with at least 100Mbps is being used then the bandwidth will be more than ample for 1000+ user connections.
