So, BabyHack doesn't respond to PMs and the only way to get his attention / a response is in the public eye, so I'm making this thread.
A character called JihadJohn was banned for shouting (as a joke) that he was recruiting for ISIS in town. Not only was this character banned though, his high level wiz on the same account with lots of valuable kit was also banned. No warnings, straight to banned. This is a role-playing game and it is clear that this guy was jokingly playing the role of a terrorist. Anyone that witnessed John or his shouts knew this was a joke - and if anyone seriously thought this was a legit recruitment tactic for the real ISIS... well you have problems in your brain.
Now, a character called Taliban plays this game on a daily basis, he runs around killing people and stealing their bosses - acting like a real terrorist. He is not banned, I saw him today. Taliban / ISIS - these are both terrorist groups. Why is Taliban allowed on Chronicles but not JihadJohn/ISIS? This makes zero sense to me.
I noticed BabyHack mention that the reason for the ban was "recruiting for ISIS" shouts in town, and not the name. So can we have some clarification about what can be said and what cannot be said in-game?
A while back I heard of a character in the game giving real life death threats to another character. They found that extremely offensive, they sent screenshots of this to gamemasters - nothing was done. The character that made the threats still runs around the land of Chronicles to this day (not mentioning any names here).
So - death threats are not bannable. But, a joke shout in town is bannable? This seems crazy.
From what I can see, these are the current rules, please clarify:
- Having a terrorist group name as your character name - NOT BANNABLE
- Doing a shout in town about a terrorist group - BANNABLE
- Death threats via PM in-game - NOT BANNABLE
