So I decided to do some testing and maths on the materials for the new crafted item sets and thought I'd share my findings.

I'm going to use Red/Black Threads as an example since they're common to all the crafted items.
You need 2,550 of each thread to get 1 set piece to Tier 8. Therefore you need 17,850 of each thread to get your full 7 item best in slot set.

My farming technique was FlameFielding ST maze, I was able to gather 10 Red Threads and 9 Black Threads in 1 hour of farming, but for simplicity's sake let's say I got 10 of each.

Now for the maths...

17,850/10 = 1,785 (Total needed divided by the amount I can farm in 1 hour to find amount of hours needed to obtain 17,850 of each thread.)

1,785/4 = 446.25 (Total hours needed divided by 4 hours of farming for mats per day to give the amount of days of farming)

446.25*2.5 = 1,115.65 (446.25 days for 2 of the mats and you need 5 different mats so just times that by 2.5 instead of dividing it down just for simplicity's sake. I've made an assumption about the average rate I can gather the other materials also being 10 per hour**).

1,115.65/365 = 3 Years 18.25 Days to craft the full Tier 8 best in slot set which is comparable to the lvl44 fox items dropped by GFS.

**This assumes that more sources of WhiteThreads will be added as currently they only drop from WhiteEvilBoar and WhiteFoxMan. The only other way to get these is to craft them. For this you would need 178,500 SpiderWebs (10 SpiderWeb = 1 WhiteThread). Even assuming you can farm SpiderWebs at double the rate of the other materials this would take 6 Years & 40 Days to gather enough to craft all the necessary WhiteThreads.

So in conclusion, if there's no new higher level content/items planned within the next 5 years then you're best off to start grinding 4 hours a day for the mats for this gear now, however if there is going to be new content and higher level items before then, I wouldn't bother crafting this beyond the first tier to get the set bonus on an alt to help it level because by the time you've finished it, you'll be high enough for whatever new gear is out anyway.

I really like the item tier system, I do, but the costs for these simply make them unrealistic and that makes me sad because I would enjoy having a measurable goal to reach to be able to upgrade the items if it was achievable.

I did the same maths yesterday and came to the same conclusion , by the time you get these items you'll have killed so many mobs you'll have got better kit drop.

It's a welcome distraction don't get me wrong , but then again I also got a **** load more threads than you , in 1hour on a solo Tao I got about 13 of each lol

don't want people to get these good sets to easy , but it also seems abit unrealistic

I will never farm that many threads personally lol

Or You could just

Make white belt and shoes, make 1x Green Bracelet, 1x GreenRing and 1x GreenNecklace. for it to be worth it.

Total Threads: 950
Total Ore: 950
Total Other Ingredient: 950 (310 SpiderTooth, 310 EbonyFruit, 310 Cannibal Leaf), 10 Maggot Pills, 10 ScorpionTails

Right but you haven't addressed how absurdly hard it is to get WhiteThreads. I'm certainly not going to be grinding 9500 SpiderWebs to craft them lol

Jamie, what he's trying to say is, you need more mobs dropping threads... though I got a way you can change everything

Mentor EXP points... every 1 million lets you buy 10-20 threads :0

Add a "Thread Chest" to boss drops, similar rate to bene oils, opening the chest can give up to 30 threads (1-10 of each)

One of the main problems is the lack of places to get them, means you will either have hunt in ST or spiders, making the crafting unattractive to endgame as you have to go back to content you could do from lvl22.

Next reboot:

If the monster has Maggot in name it'll drop Maggot Pill.
If the monster has White = White Thread.
Red = Red Thread ... etc etc

Maybe Spiders could drop 1/1 SpiderWebs to make it somewhat easier? I know they did on euro :)

Also maybe all the 'White' mobs could drop WhiteThread 1/1 also?
Especially since WhiteBoars and WhiteFoxmen are considerably harder to kill than Red/Black Boars?

All spiders being 1/1 drop on spider webs would be good, as well as seriously increasing the mob density in tree path, it was already low to begin with but will be awful now with everyone having to farm them.

Tree path is fine, more mobs will just create mass luring which is fine on deeper floors but not everyone can't tank or lure loads of mobs. It's to open of a map and would be wiz hevan. Fake 5th could do with an increase

spiders should equal 1/1 every type
