what do you guys think of the psp? (playstation portable) im going to go down to Dixons on Monday and preorder mine, anyone else going to get one??

i hope they bring out upgradeable memory sticks, more pr0n on the move then!!:dunce:

Depends on usage about 5 hours playing Games from Disc About 9 hours playing the same games from the memory stick (Wont be able to do this on European Systems)

Screen is huge.. lol And crystal clear Smudges too easily though so you should get a screen protector

Might post some shots later of the web browser and emulators that are on my Dad's psp

Version 1.50 (Early American Models) Allows copied games to play on the memory stick And also has a homebrew internet browser and emulators and numerous other useful things that people have coded

Version 2.0(All European Models) Doesnt allow copied games or anything like that to work But has a full sony made web browser with tab support..

also noticed round the shops enar me or on internet i cant see many memory upgrade sticks, is there bigger sticks of memory than 32mb coz cant get many mp3's or copied games on that :P IF ANY! (games)

Its basically Firefox And memory sticks go up to 2gb

Yeah the only problem people have had with the psp is dead pixels which are supposedly quite frequent only have one on mine and you have to look very very hard to spot it.

You can buy the usb cable to connect the psp to ur computer where u can copy files to the memory card i got this for 10 pound with p+p

Games i have got:

Need for speed underground - personnaly great game loads of cars to modify, practically the same as need for speed underground 1.

Bad points = tracks very repetative


Wipeout Pure - Absolutely amazing game, super graphics very addictive!

Also in regard with dead pixels, 3 black ones and if its still under warrenty you can have it replaced, 5 coloured ones and they should do the same (this applies with LCD monitors so im not 100% sure if the psp will be exactly the same).

Sony fixed there extreme dead pixel issue after the first batch @ most people get two dead pixels and They are IMPOSSIBLE to see unless there on a black/or white backround and even then can be hard to spot (My dad's has 1 dead pixel and he hasnt seen it yet.. lol)

Detritus what firmware version do you have? About other games to import Ridge Racer is fun And Lumines(If you like puzzle games) is by far the best game on the system

The PSP is an excellent system provided you have the Memory Stick to back it up

- Lumines
- Ridge Racer
- Snes Emulator (Mario roms, FF6, SD3 and some more)
- Megadrive Emulator (All the Sonic Games and Bomberman)
- SmashGPSP (Port of the GP32 version of Super Smash Brothers)
- Internet Browser
- Last Episode of Star Trek Enterprise

And theres still 147mb free on the memory stick (1gb memory stick)

RE: The dead pixels. They could just be stuck pixels. There's a video floating around which can 'un-stuck' them. Basically, it goes from pure red, to pure green, to pure blue, repeatedly. The idea is that the crystal regains full control of itself.

I've had mine for about 2 months or so, it's japanese but i've got US Games. As you say Detritus Wipeout has fantastic graphics, but i don't think that the gameplay is that good. What i would reccomend is Ridge Racer, it's a fantastic game and even though the graphics aren't as good as Wipeout, it is a hell of alot more fun.
