What sort of upload speed are you guys using for your online servers ?
By virtue, ADSL has a lower Upload than download speed. Has this affected anyone's setup ?

A decent ADSL Connection is suitable for around 30-40 people without suffering any sort of lag (512kb/s upload)

I have a 1mb/s upload speed and im pretty sure you could hold around 60-80 users with ease on that sort of connection without lag suffering, It could be even more but not 100% sure without studying the packet data.

Basically if you use a home internet connection for a server, you dont carry on downloading your porn/music/films whatever you usually do with your internet, you run a server and thats it.

I would not bother even looking into getting a dedicated server for £50+ a month unless you have 100+ players online, it would be a damn site cheaper to buy a new home internet connection and use that as a dedicated line to the server.

on bandet we had 74 ppl on last week or so with a 376 upload, the players didnt lag but we suffered mass mob lag lol due to the ram usage from the files

so even with a 376 upload it didnt lag

I saw your sig and nearly cried when I look at my 2meg BT ADSL.
They've corrected a fault and it still won't get better even though I'm only a mile or so from the exchange.

and thats 6mbs short of what im sposed to be getting aswell :P (20mbs)

for some reason vista is crap on speedtest.net and most of the time it is less than 10mbs
