The problem with this server is that, it is trying to emulate an official server from a decade ago; while it is a private server that has altered most aspect of the game in some ways; The end result no longer maintains the appeal of the original game and unfortunately has no unique characteristics of its own.
I am not a hardcore MIR fan and the last server i played was the official server. I came to this game with the intention of playing something that i use to enjoy with the friends that i still keep in touch with. I have enjoyed this server so firstly let me say thank you for your work and effort. this server brought back good memories. Secondly no matter how good/bad this server is, i can not see myself playing it more than a month because i just wanted to remember the old times, i don't want to relive it.
I have seen about 660 players online at the second day of server but lately the numbers have been going down slowly. I don't point this out to say that the server is doomed or that something is wrong but rather to point out that average players now days like to play something for few months, and then move on to the next game. Of curse the truly dedicated fans/members of the game will stick around for years but those are the small minority and often very active members on forums.
Now with that said, i would like to add my opinion on this server. There are currently few things wrong with this version of Mir2.
#1: Targeting, This is the result of the aspect ratio changes [resolution] that was done to the game in order to make it look more modern. Targeting problem has a huge effect on PvP and general game play [example Tao's heal skill, you either get mass heal right now or constantly tell your friend to move since that spot cant be healed], it needs to be addressed asap.
#2 Monster AI, monsters were always a bit dumb on MIR but that was part of the appeal of the game, where a wizard sits behind a wall that was lured on by a warrior friend so he/she can put fire everywhere which results in good exp for both of them. This changes the gameplay and the usefulness of the skills.
3: Drop Rate, player exp% has been increased but the drop rate is terrible and as result you have lv35-40 players running around with level20 items which in most cases are the items bought from NPC. the drop rate needs to be increased to bring those player's items in line with their level. Also there needs to be more loot diversity, ZT, PSC, PT, BC , etc etc all pretty much drop the same items with exception of one or two different skill books. MIR's item list is not huge but it needs more than [lets put moral ring on every mobs drop file]
4: Class and Skill balance, this is the hardest part to fix and i think the one which will always be an issue on this server more than others, since you added archer to the mix. you can not have skills like heavenly blade that go from terrible to ooo my ****ing gawd what just killed me stage. The skill cast time changes also fits in this category as well.
5: the last point and the very minor one is the crafting; for example the nephrite set for Tao it requires so much White Threads that it will probably never be created by anyone while it should have been used as set that bridges gap between the next and better armor.
