Windows installation

When i load my windows installation discs, it says it doesnt recognise my hard disk drives (probably cause my dad deleted the partition) im guessing that my hard drive is either broken or i need some drivers to install them.

if anyone can provide me with some software or drivers that i could put onto a disc and load the disc on my pc which would create a partition on my harddrive ready to install windows xp..

this is the exact message i get when i load my windows xp disc to install.

Are they sata drives???

If they are, are you using an original xp disk. If so you will need to install the sata drivers before you install XP.
Though this can be done from the XP installation.

yes its XP, also, the pc doesnt start up and i cant seem to find any option to install those drivers on the disc

I had this problem with my laptop. Your going to need to use nlite or something simular and basicly have to edit your current windows installation with the drivers for the hard drive and then write the edited version to disk and then install it, If you plan on never useing vista again simply go into bios and change the drives settings to IDE you then wont have to do the above. But i have been told you cant use vista in IDE mode or something. So if you plan on using vista again you could dual boot 2 os`s with 2 partitions. Or do the the slip streaming (putting your drivers into the windows installation)

Search google for the guide about slip streaming sata drivers into the iso file and then writing it to disk.

Yup. Nlite is the only way forward to put sata drives onto the disk, its not easy ether so its a good idea to read up on nlite also.

But you should have the option to load secondary sata drivers from the instalation of the disk as it usually asks you if you want to laod secondary drivers up. Unless you have a pre SP2 disk then Nlite it is.

Yeh you can also load them from a floppy By pressing F6 when your setup inspects hardware ect.

I couldn't remeber which one it was, all my disks are Nlite created lol.

No problem, What do you mean it has booted up fine, Have you managed to install windows xp then? Which method did you use?

no i didnt install anything, my dad just switched pc on this mornin and it loaded up fine.. i already had everything installed before it messed up so i suppose its just restored itself bk to normal somehow =x

If its now all of a suden working, I would sugest getting your hard drive replaced as this is a sign of a faulty one.
