Stop the Messanger service, it's in control panel > admin tools > services.

cos the lag stops when i stop it running, but then it automaticly starts running again in like 30 secs, so i start lagging again, just go along with that being the reason ;)

how can i stop it then? :P

and even if it turns out not to be that, id still prefer it not running.

On the service thing on administrator tools on control manager, it says its at C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

but can i stop that or? what will it efect? and its part of a svchost, dont u need them all running?

I dont realy know your problem, but i have msgmsgs running whilst on mir, doesnt change my 'lagg' at all, and when i close it on task manager, it stays off, so you must have something running using it (Msn Internet? Msn?)

/4fun :D

I dont think anything else needs msn to run... (if ya didnt know msgmsgs is msn).. only way to resolve is probably to uninstall msn then...

/4fun

Side Note : i wouldnt un-install until sumbody gives ya more info on what it could be cos i dont realy know

:D

have your comp checked for virus/spyware/etc... if you end tasked it and it comes back it's probably one of those.

replace C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe with an empty .exe file, thats what a friend of mine did.

msmsgs is Windows Messenger, the version of MSN that comes with windows.

----

Doesn't Outlook use it ?

Or even simpler, got to the windows messenger options, and untick start when windows starts and Allow to run as background service.
