People do have lag outs for whatever reason, and recently I started taming pets as a wiz.
Was levelling my newly acquired frogs and then had a well timed layout! Wasn't dead
but when I logged back in my frogs were gone. I'm aware that this was the norm but I think it would be a really good feature to have a timer if you layout, say 3-5mins that would give you time to log back in and the pets still be yours! Now the only issue that I can think that opposes this is if you died or were killed, in this case you should lose the pets. As it would be totally unbalanced for you to enter pvp or a boss scenario and die but keep pets.

So so my solution in summary would be have a lagout/logout timer for pets so you can keep them if that happens, if you die or are killed you lose them as norm.

i think this idea is a real goer with only benefits for the budding pet tamer, it would certainly increase the use of pets and lvling as that's why I've always avoided them.

I'm pretty sure some servers have had this feature should be standard

If you are lagging out its your isp or set up. Aside from the server crash ive never lagged out on here.

Not sure I like the idea of keeping pets alive after lag/log out for any duration of time.
Log in/out to "recall" pets if they wander off.
When you go to bed have your mate log in to lvl7 pets.
In a fight just log in/out in out shake it all about. Untill pker moves on.

I really dont think enough people suffer lagouts to justify a time commitment to this personally.
But then im not the one getting frustrated by it.

I think this should be something that is added to the game not because of layouts though. Yes it would help people who lag out.

I dont think its that much of a game changer either. Pets being so **** is the reason I have never levelled my wizard up. He's 24 now lol.

Its like mir just forgot that wizards can tame things and decided to leave it behind.

Hardly left behind with warnings for untame and a 24hour safe zone.

Hmm. What do you mean a 24 hour safe zone?

them two things just seem like a quick fix. Give them more mobs to tame. Better variety of skills for the mobs to use etc.

The timer on tamed monsters does not decrease when pets are in a safezone, ie the 2 hour tame timer only decreases outside safezone

Oh that's cool. A bit poor if you are one of them that can't leave your pc on over night.

Cant it you just make it so they don't un tame? The only way to loose pets is for them to die?

Here's a thought... aren't you glad your not sad enough to leave your pc running all night just to keep some pets on a game alive anymore?

Has there been any update on this?

I just spent God knows how long trying to tame yellow frogs by myself, after failing miserably I asked my guild for help and eventually I had a bit of help to kill the foxes whilst I tamed.. great, finally got my pets.. now to lvl them up.. I spend a good amount of time in ST lvling these bad boys, finally get them to about lvl 5-6 and decide to hit Numa to crack on lvling.. use 3 rts, start running and then boom - lag. brilliant, lagged out and lost my pets. what a complete waste of time.

It would be great if there was something that can be implemented to prevent this from happening.. I know lag isn't necessarily the server teams fault but it's incredibly frustrating to lose all 5 pets in one go due to lag. As a solo wiz, I need the pets in order to help me lvl, it's hard enough to tame them as it is.

you should add a "Bichon zoo" where they can go to tame various of the most popular mobs, at least it would make things a bit quicker for em.

This is the reason I made the suggestion, happens to me and others, hear it all the time in guild chat. In Blackwidows and in team people talk about how they got frogs, started to lvl or finished lvl and lagout. Not saying this is server sided at all but something to help the budding pet tamer would be great. As per my suggestion it would be easy to put a timer on things so it couldnt be abused, you could also say that if someone logged out then they would be lost. The things i've mentioned previously and this would mean that you couldnt keep them if you died, logged etc.
Is there any response to this suggestion officially as its really to help wizzys solo lvl, if this is a deffo no then at least I'd stop checking the thread! lol
But if you think that this is something that could be implemented in some way then it'd make a lot of wizz's happy and save some small pixel frogs an unprompted death!

Cheers

:cold:
I have just been made a victim of this!
Tamed 5 Kektals in foxes and then make my way to ST 3f to level them up on some BBMs.
1 pet reached lvl 7 with the others not far behind when my connection drops out! I check some webpages and see that it is infact my network which has decided to drop out! I think this has only occurred on a few other occasions but it has made me want to log off right there and then... Its so... upsetting! spending about an hour or so prepping for a nice hunt and being set back to square one.
After my network "dropout", it was back up within 20 seconds, but it was of course too late by then.

I don't know how easy/difficult it is to code in a solution to a problem such as this - and whether it would lead to any problems/exploits - but it would save a lot of heartache!

Thanks :encouragement:

Aye the store bug is annoying too, as well as the shop pop ups, perhaps a pet egg that expires after 5mins 100k?
De levels pets or w/e.

"Make the mobs the same stat with 1 EXP though, this would prevent exp glitching :P

I've always liked the way the pet system works on Project 69 (and also Arcadia if Scorp took it to that also).

For those who have never played it/arent aware, basically there is a quest line which increases in difficulty the further down the line you get (as all good quest lines should!) Examples of these quests are clear a ZT boss while being surrounded by zuma guardians/statues, find and kill certain bosses and return with the quest item or my personal favourite – take a handful of pet sheep from 1 end of a quest map to the other without any of them dieing. At the end of each quest you are awarded a licence.

In the safe zone/designated area there is an NPC who teleports you to a room that looks like the prison house in SW. You speak to the NPC who checks your licence and he will spawn mobs which are linked to that licence for you to tame, I.e. you have the basic licence, you can tame basic pets, so on and so forth! Or alternatively you can pay him a certain amount of money and he will spawn you upto 5 pets to save you from taming but this is costly (good little gold sink for lazy wizzes). Then you’re away.

Of course it can be adapted to Chronicles, although if it were upto me I would bring in the same set up as on p69 except make the mobs equivalent to others already ingame for that lvl. i.e. a lvl 28 quest licence spawns mobs equivalent in damage/hp as say black maggots. Just with a different mob so that you can see who has done the licences and who hasn’t. It was always a sign of respect to see someone with the top tier pets and commend them for completing the arduous task to get them!
