But, playing my mates lvl 44 rogue to see what its like, and it aint as easy ( pvp wise ) as many think, timing in pvp is crucial, but its uber fun to play, all those stuns get me hard tbh.
Hit the nail on the head. I started a rogue at the weekend who's now level 16 (YAY ME!) and it's painfully obvious that timing is one of the most important things. Knowing when to use your skills to get the most out of them is crucial. It was quite difficult playing a class with next to no crowd control, if I accidentally pulled more than I intended I'd have a very tough fight on my hands. That and generally not being used to melee fighting made the whole experience very fun and rewarding :D
He might not get much love this week though as I'll (hopefully) be taking my first steps into MC with my mage. After soloing Attunement To The Core at 3am Saturday morning I'll be damned if I'm missing the raids now!

The expansion should be good. Loads of stuff being added and by the sounds of things that were said at Blizzcon there should be a lot of exciting stuff happening with the free patch updates in the coming months too. As an example Ahn'Qiraj (new raid instance in the south of Silithus) will require server-wide cooperation to open it up before anyone can go in. Personally I can't wait to start raiding that place, I've seen a caster staff that drops there... it's AMAZING! Should be coming in 1.9 patch which, hopefully, will be out before the end of the year :D

Isn't it the dark portal (entrance to the Outlands) that is going to require a server wide quest to open....?, the quest (or "event") to open it will happen not long before the expansion.

Havn't heard anything at all about Ahn'Qiraj (I know its in the in development patch notes but ive seen no details on it).

:doggy!:

Oh and rogues only require skill for high end pvp, pve wise your on easy mode and just button bashing.

Yeah that's exactly what I read/heard me thinks Grim just got a bit muddled up :P I haven't heard nothing about Ahn'Qiraj either.

I am not confused at all. The server-wide event for Ahn'Qiraj is more a gathering of items and resources, not everyone will be required for it but the more people that help, the faster it will be opened (on your server), once it is open it will stay that way for good and for everyone, not just one guild or group of players, etc.

I'd be interested to know where you heard of this server-wide event for opening The Dark Portal. I've heard that only Warlocks will be able to open it (and only the most powerful ones at that). Seeing as Outlands (which is where you would end up if you were to go through The Dark Portal once it's open) will only be available to people who buy the expansion pack I wouldn't have thought they'd make it a server-wide event/quest.

I heard it from www.wowcentral.com the article written in 'Computer Gaming World' that's been posted there.
How will players get to Outland from Azeroth? Exactly the way it's always been done: Through the Dark portal--that otherworldly gateway that Medivh opened up way back prior to the original WarCraft and that has been the source of all the trouble (and all our fun) in Azeroth ever since. The Dark Portal has been visible but closed to players in World of Warcraft, a dormant tourist attraction out in the Blasted Lands zone, but Blizzard plans to open it--or, rather, let players open it via a server-wide uberquest--in a live update leading up to the expansion. (The quest details are still in flux, but expect something like a server-wide serach for pages of Medivh's old spellbook...)
That's what I was going by :)

Hmm interesting. That's more recent than the one I was going by...
"Q: We've seen from an older screenshot that the Dark Portal has been rebuilt (after being destroyed in War2 expansion pack). Can you give us any background on why it's back or what role it'll play in the game?

Katricia: The foundation of the Dark Portal was never destroyed even though the connection between the worlds was severed; and while it is no longer open, there is a legend of a ritual contained within Medivh's spellbook which might one day allow powerful Warlocks to open a portal.
That was taken from an interview with one of Blizzard's ex-Community Managers but it was way WAY back in 2004 so that new info (that you posted) probably has more truth to it. Still doesn't make sense that they'd allow non-expansion players to take part in an event to open an expansion only area, it'd seem kinda like slap in the face: "Oh yay! You've helped open The Dark Portal now you ca... oh wait, you've not bought the expansion... you lose!"
