Might be interested however its really not that competative at £30.

In the UK you can get colocation for £30 a month on a 10gb backbone (1mbit isn't alot in comparison lol). And also as its UK you would have better pings as most players on servers are Euro based.

Any ideas on what server spec's as well? Celeron/Duron based PC with 1024MB Ram would do nicely :)

Any way I am getting a Free server from a US friend tomorrow for my server if it turns out to be **** I may be interested, but prolly for a little less then £30 ;)

Well if you remember Urbanfox hosted AO for a period of time and that was on a home connection and it was 6,000 miles away from 99% of the players and yet still no lags. I'm sure a server on a 100mbit line would't lag either. =)

Yes I must say im not totally sure how Mir would perform from US to Euro, Ping will be around 100-150 and although that seems enough for Mir you never know lol.

If It is 30USD, I think you have a good deal there.
My connection service is Comcast Cable cost around 45USD anyways.
I have 9 computers all hook to the Hub, and still have download speed
averagely around 400-500kps.

It's about $50 USD.

I would be hosting on fiber, not cablemodem, about 4000/4000 with bandwidth upgrades every year.

Specs would be

A64 3000+/3200+ s939
2x512MB DC DDR400

It's not something immediate, might be a reality in 1-2 months.

Cost would be 25-30 pounds, or $50 USD

Well once you start adding lots of spawns and such the CPU usage can
get relatively high with a feature packed server, so I want to give as much headroom as possible.

$30/Month - 16.2084GBP/Month - 23.7613EUR/Month

A toxic hazard just kill a fox. :drobot:

What you fail to realise is that I am still the only viable option for a few reasons concerning that link:

1) Any company will in no way take the risk for a mir server.

2) The starter server would lag...

· AMD 2000+
· 256 MB SDRAM
· 40 GB Hard Drive

3) Your not covering the hidden costs... For that $30 USD, your assuming that we will run linux (not possible) and a few other things.

So, let's add the costs together:

Basic starter $30

· AMD 2000+
· 256 MB SDRAM
· 40 GB Hard Drive

+ windows server $26/month

+ Basic firewall $50/mont + $100 setup

+ 1GB FTP backup $15/month

So, the first month, in reality, you pay $221 USD, and $121 USD every month after that, for crappy specs, assuming they don't shut you down.

Wouldn't you benefit from more of a raw power P4 or Dual CPU of some sort :p

I pay £15 for my server atm,

2.6ghz
1mb RAM
Windows 2003 Server
100MB Connection

which is good for the price... :)
