No, it's important information that WILL affect everyone, not just Americans... hence why a Brit is reporting about it.

I love how naive people are thinking just because this is an American bill that its only going to affect America. I watched this yesterday. Can't see it being passed, but yeah it'll ruin the internet as we know it if it does.

You would think the goverment would be more arsed about other things then some **** being posted on the internet.

All in all i don't think anything will come of it though, maybe a few sites but never youtube, facebook, twitter, all the major websites people are mentioning.

Problem with this is , most american companies that host a website IE Youtube/Facebook any other thing that could allow someone to upload a file the could infringe copyright could be closed down .
Its a massive step forward in terms of combating piracy , not necissarly a nice one . it doesnt need to come to this .
People saying it only effects americans are 100% wrong . as alot of social media is hosted in the states .
There hearing has been ajourned into next year now . we get to keep internetz for longer

Its not just the fact that this ruling would leave the site owners responsible for content uploaded to their site, its also going to give the media companies a big power hungry ban hammer to much more easily take down anything they don't like.

I don't agree in piracy (yes i illegally download) but i also don't agree governments should be able to choose what sites can't be hosted on the internet. Maybe stop them hosting on dedicated servers, but it is personally hosted i don't think they should have any right to take it down.

I'm glad Google aren't stepping in to sensor the sites these media companies want to shut down, but i don't think it'll be long until they have no choice but to give in and remove certain sites from their search results.

I'd hate it if we became China with all their website censorships.

A domain hoster tried to support this recently called GoDaddy (lol) however they were forced to withdraw after 2 days due to people leaving there company and other companies offering discounts to those using the codes #SOPA SUCKS #GODADDY. Google it, I found it rather funny.
