Ok,

I have downloaded XP Pro from a torrent. Scanned it, no viruses or anything.
U kno had a good look for my self 2 make sure it isnt dodgy...

I put in the CD, turn the comp off, turn it back on and quickly press F12 then the boot menu comes up. I then choose the CD option and it just has a _ on the top left corner and just flashes for about 5 seconds.. After that it just turns on normally(without loading the setup wtf ??)


Would any1 know how I could force the comp to read it?

did you burn ISO or BIN/CUE or did you just burn the files?

you can use NERO and check Disc Info to see if the CD is BOOTABLE.

Well I found a long way around it. Installed my normal XP (with a fresh installation) and used the XP pro and done a Upgrade from XP Home


I will try to get Nero and see what it says( as it might be an easier way )

Was your windows xp legal? if so, did your upgrade from xp home to xp pro go successfully?

I would like to upgrade from windows xp home (legal version) to windows xp pro (maybe illegal as its free to purchase :P ).

Just finshed installing all of my Drivers and Programs and it works a treat

If u wanted the torrent I used mayb I could point u in the direction

So you can read packed code ?

Anyways, the CD you burned probably wasn't bootable, or was corrupted.

If it was corupt, it wouldnt work at all m8 or I would have a 1000 problems after I would install it

do a clean install using your hard drive manufactures or winme or other tool boot disk and format the hard drive to fat32, then at the c:> prompt type in the pathway to your cd drive like E:\ and then type in i386\winnt.exe (full path is E:\i386\winnt.exe) use whatever your cd drive has become after the boot disk changed it. xp will extract from the cd and install.

That was posted on the comments for the torrents. Normally wen I do a clean format and install XP Home after, I just boot the CD from the menu.
I'm not sure 100% how to do a clean format (Since the CD wont boot normally)

So I just done a clean install of Home Edition and Upgraded it to XP Pro after.

I got it off usenet (Cheers blam) Dont know if theres any torrents for it :/

Its a nice install although it does seem to have some custom stuff that's not usually defaulted on windows but its all good

Argh oki npz I have seen a "windows xp pro october 06" torrent, but i never got it because there were reports that it included a virus.

I am thinking about trying usenet tbh, i like torrents but just lately alot of them include virus's and crap

P.S Most of the time you can't get updates with windows ect when you download it.
