Corrupted

I have a problem with one of my computers, i not used it for a couple of months but it was running perfectly last time i was on it.

When i turn it on, it says that System32/DRIVERS file is missing or corrupted, you can repair this file by loading up you're setup-cd etc...

So i went to repair it but when its reading the cd, it says there is somthing corrupted so it will not let me load the cd up, There nothing wrong with the cd as i just tested it on another computer and it's fine..

Am clueless on what to do, anyone got any suggestions?

No idea about what happened to the System32/Driver folder but the CD can read fine on one PC and be dodgy on another.

What normally works for me is to wash the disc in cold water and gently pat it dry with a tissue then try it again. Preferably wash it at the error point if it has an option to retry.

-edit- by wash I mean run it under a tap not physically submerge it in water lol

Just used a cd cleaner and it still dose not work, but it's 100% the cd, just found that out.

Going to try it with another computer which needs formating anyway, and see if that works.

if all eles fails i may aswell just submerge it in water, seems a good idea :agree:.

Just formated another pc using that disc and it worked fine...

Did you have a scanner, USB stick or some other hardware connected to it that is no longer there ?
Get into safe mode, then run MSConfig from Start > Run, try and use the system restore option to a date prior to your error.
Also from MSConfig, try a selective startup and deselect items from the startup list. One by one, add them back until you find the error.

Nope nothing been added or removed since i was last on it, and i have tryed booting in safe mode but i still get the same corrutped error.

i got 1 way of sorting it (sorry if its to late)

use Ubuntu (or a linux bassed OS) and one that will run from CD.

load ur PC up, run safe mode, then when its running thru the drivers, and it stopes at 1 write it down. now on a seperate PC ither ask some 1 for this driver to be sent to u over msn (or what ever) then once u have it add it to a flash drive, now run Linux from the CD once its loaded up locate the driver folder and place that driver into the folder, restart and it shud load up.
