so it is best to fix the map editor to show the how it will look in the client? for the middle layer... currently it is different so something needs a fix hehe
ahh right... erm I'll have to check the images and see why it is doing that then (I thought I was close to understanding what was going on if it was mir3 images lol)
EDIT: had a quick look at the code now I have the correct info for the images that were messing up... I know what is causing the...
I would really love to make a way to auto generate maps but to stitch all the tiles needed for the objects or by using pre created objects find a way of them not overlapping or causing problems blocking player movement and trapping players would be quite a challenge and require very specific...
it is using the index number to define the tile image as coming from mir3 (so the map type shouldn't make a difference) and then running different draw code for the middle layer (I'm just trying to work out why it is set up that way by looking at the code)
I suspect that any tile strips from...
I've been looking at the code for drawing the Middle and Front Images
What are the index numbers for the images you used in the example? ... or better question I just need the cell info for one of the cells I can work out the rest once I know what file to look in hehe
EDIT: Nevermind I found...
I've been working on a few changes this morning and uploaded a new version
Thanks for the suggestions and feedback mir2pion... I'm finding updating is much easier when you have a list of things to fix :)
Changes:
Fixed F10 focussing on the file menu when pressed... it should not do that now...
The previous/next keys were already in the code I just moved it to the , & . keys... I could see using it if I'm building small rocks or something that I don't have an object for
ahh right I thought there might be a problem with the ` key with some other peoples keyboards... I'll add the tilde...
you got a new map type for your maps? I'll release the code soon so you can add your maps
was there anything else I said I would add? ...other than the middle/front toggle ... I feel like I'm forgetting something :)
Maybe I could add the tile cutter
I just added the MiniMap creator to this map editor :) actually converted from my map editor with very few issues... well I had to edit a lot of the code but it was fairly quick and painless lol
here is a MiniMap I made from map 5 just to show it works
Image Preview
I'll add a few things...
I'll have to look into the differences between the two and see if I can get them working when I have a bit of time to play with the code... thanks for the info Jamie if it is slightly faster it might be worth looking into before I start with SlimDX
I'll have to look into why the middle layer...
Ahh thanks yeah I didn't think of looking at that I'll download later and see if I can learn a few things from it
EDIT: I've downloaded and taken a quick look at the Zircon source :) seems like I should be able to edit what I need from the code and get something working for turning my future...
I should really learn how to use SlimDX/SharpDX the last time I tried to start a project using either of them I failed because I am not good enough at coding projects from scratch to work out how to set the DX panels up :( lol I might give it another go soon as it was a long time ago and I have...
The reason I asked about the top layer was because it seems like a good idea at first but after thinnking about it its use would be very limited unless in a very crowded map where lots of objects overlap and I know you can use the middle image in some situations to solve it... but I'm not an...
Yeah I used the more recent shortcuts post you made mir3pion :) has z for undo and ctrl+z for redo ` for select "nothing" etc... seems pretty good (although I kept pressing the keys reserved for the top layer thinking it was the front layer keys but that was just because Im not used the the...
I guess you could but each cell has quite a lot of data so you would have to have muliple lines of data for each cell and I'm guessing it would be quite hard to read/edit
Object view should already be resizable on the version I just posted a short while ago... if it is not let me know and I'll...
The jump and free memory are in the tool menu and also the mir3 invert layer thing... do you use those two buttons alot then? I could always add them back it would be no problem (also the save button as file>save? or a button back on the top bar better?)
The space saved I thought could be used...
thanks :) no rush
the new way of creating areas sounds like a great way of doing it... creating larger areas of mixed objects should fill in big areas much quicker that one object at a time... and adding extra single objects after should make them not feel repeated
I've uploaded a version I would like someone to test to see if I have broken anything... or if it even works hehe :P
Changes:
Added (All?) shortcuts suggested in previous post by mir2pion (don't think I missed anything)
The number keys that select the layer should update the dropdown menu to...
