define 'grief' and what nvidia card do you have

well i have this ldc screen (Manhattan 15inch is is meant to be a tv) which i borrowed from my gf and it works on my old computer which has a nvidia g4 mx440. I connect it to my new computer with my ati card in and the refresh rate is wrong so i changed it to 75 but it keeps changing back sometimes and in the ATI monitor properties it says "DDC: Not supported"
but my old monitor is supported.

Also on counterstrike the quality of openGL mode isnt as good as my nvidia was (which is strange as this is a better card) Software and D3D modes are crap like normal aswell.

**** the asus motherboard get the msi sli or diamond.

it's pci-e, you can't get an x800 for it and GT's cost like 25+% more on PCI-E than agp.

the new xl from ati should be out soon, can you a pci-e 16 pipe card for 160 pounds?

so your complaing your tv lcd won't work right? maybe because it's not meant for that.

what drivers did you use, sounds like the ati settings were wrong.

The point is it works on a crapper computer/gfx card and i think you will find that most lcd tv's have a PC button on the remote which means it obviously works for a pc.

Newest CATALYST ones on the ATI site (the top package cus the bottom package seems to not be compatible with the 9200)

did you go into advanced settings and change/check the quality?

and that doesn't mean anything just because the **** card works on it, and an icompadibility with some offbrand lcd tv isn't anything to moan about.

I feel ATI owns Nvidia. Why? Benchmarks.

Nvidia is good because it doesn't have as many drivers and is newbie friendly. It also has better pixel-shading then ATI.

The quality in the advanced settings were set to in between Performance and Quality so i just made both D3D and OpenGL "Optimal Quality". So hopefully that'll be ok now.

Yeh it may be a ****ty brand lcd but as i sed b4 im not rich and it looks better than a normal monitor, its a shame when my computer looks cool but then i have some **** monitor next to it -.-

I've just build a new computer, with an AMD64.. as Auron knows :P
I stuck a 6600GT in, purely because within my price range it's the winner.
If I had more money, I'd wait for the X850XT PE. It maybe be only a minor improvement over the X800.. but shouldn't be as damn rare.

By the looks of things, it's worth me sticking another in.

In some cases, the 6600GT SLi outperforms the X800XT, in others it looses performance under the 6600GT alone. This, AMDZone says, is mainly due to the game and the graphics drivers.
Judging off the scores they recorded from the Source engine, I'll be very happy if I add another one in and get that kind of performance.

You kinda forgot sometihng important...

At Radeaon 9800 - about £150
X800 - £280 onwards and upwards.
Nvidia 6600 - which out performs the 9800 easily is £90

I know which one I will be buying - from the reviws (remeber my TFT has a max res of 1280x1024 anyhow) the 6600 can run just about any game with little trouble..

The high end cards only make a difference anyhow Im sure if you crank up the Res and features + run the latest games such as:

HL2
Doom3
Farcry
Halo with all the bells and whilstles on

Can anone tell the difference on let say Call of Duty (game at random) running at 85 fps vs 190 fps... i very much doubt it.

I put another 6600GT into my computer and it's sprouted wings and flown.
On Half-Life 2, 1280x1024, High everything and the filtering stuff.. it runs at between 50-100FPS.
Depending, of course, upon what your looking at.

Full computer specifications:

AMD64 3500+ (Winchester)
2 x MSI 6600GT PCI-E
160GB S-ATA 7200RPM, 8mb HDD
A8N-SLI nForce 4 Mobo
1GB (2 x 512MB) PC3200 DDR
Case + 400W PSU

Of course, you're all forgetting about ATI's SLI-equivalent :P

Two X700XTs would easily decimate SLI 6600GTs, unless ATI makes some kind of horrific mistake in their implementation.

@ Loz - get a different ATI card. The 9200 SE is utter crap. Grab a 9600 if you can, solved all my 9200 nightmares.

Once again though, i must stress Nvidia's child-like behaviour.

I'm normally an ATi fanboy.. problem is, in my price range, what you can buy now, the nVidia is the best option.

Minion, I am not sure where you got those benchmarks for the valve stresstest, but they are way off, and an X800XT would easily destroy a 2x6600gt setup.

Also, in response to post #54, my X800 pro on a lesser system than yours gets the same results...WITH aa and af.
